1 and 2 ...that should be no problem.....well unless you have say a solid steel door....but a normal door is fine

Just use you head and you will be fine

dude if you are going with dry wall you will want your trueeses at 2' oc or the rat runs at 2' oc or it will sag..

be sure if you are going to put in a ceiling that the truss builder knows it...when you tell them "pole barn" they think open with no ceiling so the trusses will be designed with very little bottom load

I had the truss guys engineer an open center truss. This gave me 12x45 ft open area with plenty of room to walk around side to side. Load bearing enough for almost anything I would want to store there. Also, the floor is 3/4" "screwed and glued" to the bottom member. I also did the outside storage roof this way and gained 9x20 ft. This also stiffen the building and added to the Hurricane strenghtening!

Chucko is absolutely right!
If you are going to install a ceiling you have to let the truss designer know. OSB and Drywall are heavy. Anything over 2' on sheet rock will sag!
If all your trusses are tied together well as per plans that come with your trusses a standard garage door bracket for the back of the rails for the garage will hang fine.

Jim,
I would go for the drywall myself, if for nothing more than a little more fire resistance and a lighter color (besides easier to slap some white paint on if you want lighter, it helps with reflecting light).
Your trusses are 24"OC, so you may be OK.

i wont be putting in a ceiling, only hanging the garage door stuff, wich is a big 16 footer..wonder how much more the open center trusses are than the regular ones? I like the way yours is, thats cool!

The cost difference will never outweigh the convenience of the additional storage space. You are only building this once, so you better make it the way you want it in the first place. A building is like a marriage..... if you mess up it costs you a lot before you get it straightened out....... build it right / marry the right person.... you will have a smile on your face for life.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Junkman the Philosopher.... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I'm a retire builder / engineer . Just order a common truss and fill in for the siding nailing support with 2x 4's before you set them in place . We always sided are end trusses on the ground first . Much faster and safer .Since you do not have a end bearing wall the "Gable Style" truss would sag or fail . Once you fill in 1/2 of the truss the others will be the same lenght ,so you will need 4 of each lenght to do both trusses. It does not take that long and you can put the siding nailing strips on 16" or 24" (centers) depending on want you want and are using for a finished siding .

Trusses are 2' on center as I'm doing OSB/shingled roof. Unfortunately my trusses are already in place, so it is a little tough to tell the builder that I want to do a ceiling some day. Mine is 30x48 with trusses 2' on center. They are made out of all 2x4 material. Ceiling is down the road a piece. Need to get the rest of the roof up and some walls up before even think about that, I was just curious.
