Try Calling a Hardware box store and asking if they have Sling for Weeds

I wanted to get a sling to knock down a few tall shoots of weeds around the field and house instead of using the weed eater. The weeds are sparse and just wasn't worth cranking the weed eater for. I can put it in the mule and use it when needed. It takes about 30 seconds to get it out knock a weed down and move on.

Well I tried calling several hardware stores and a couple of the big box stores to see if they had a sling..."a what"...a sling, it is an old fashioned weed eater..."I have never heard of one, What does it look like?". It has a handle and a straight blade on the end..."we don't have anything like that, would an axe work"...never mind:.

I finally tried one of the feed and seed stores I buy from and the young person that answered had no idea what I was talking about. So I said put "Randy" on the phone, Randy do you have a sling?...yes there $18.00:thumbsup:

We call those a yo-yo in Texas. Amazon has them made by Ames and one that's open on one side of the triangle is called a whip or whipper. You never have to mix gas for those 'weed eaters.'

In my neck of the woods, a garden hose is called a hose pipe. Try going into a store in another part of the country and asking for a hose pipe. Talk about confused looks. Better yet go in and ask for a sling and a hose pipe.

I got one just like that at Lowes. I asked for a weed cycle and the guy went rght to the product.

We used to call them weed whackers. I've also heard them called weed whips. But never a sling. Fun to hear how the same thing can be called so many different names.

I remember years ago when chain gangs used them to clean roadsides. I still have one in the garage but seldom use it anymore.
