Even with chains on I only plow my driveway down hill. With chains on and horsing the heck out of her I can plow up but it is rougher on equipment. So far, I've only plowed once this winter...unusual for Northern PA.
In fact, haven't mounted the OFAs yet because of the limited snow. Nothing like living on the edge!
But may do it this week, though winter is half over (he says optimistically!)
With 3/4 of a mile mostly downhill to the road, I have to plow going down the hill and then drive back up raised when running without chains.
But with the OFAs, the tractor can pull a full plow up the hill, down the hill, and sideways if needed! It's unstoppable!
I plow my driveway in sections, the top up around the house and shed which is almost level. The the first straight going down and most of the first corner, I plow down reverse and back up, plow down again, and repeat.
Then I plow out the short straight and part of the second corner the same way. Then the last straight the same way.
Then the end of the driveway and road entrance and parking spot at the road..
I've always ended up working it this way, hasn't mattered if it was chained up 4x4's, chained up 3/4 tons with the sanders in the back, 2wd tractors with chains or 4wd tractors with chains at the rear or on both axles.
