Good lumber yards are hard to find!
Yeah, you have to get some cross-pieces attached to the posts or they will twist quickly. (I know the hard way because I took a while getting the walls up.)
Siding: you can always use re-sawn dimensional lumber (2x8's or 2x10' sawn into 1x) in board and batten config, or my local lumber yard carries T&G 1x material that works well for siding. Just some ideas....
