Wow! That almost looks like the type of damage that might happen from dropping the tractor while unloading it or running into something. It makes me wonder if the damage was done as the pin came out or if the pin came out because of a crack/weakening of the "saddle." Does the crack show any signs of rust or having been there for awhile?

Ok.. here is my CSI impersonation...

Jinman.. take a look at pic #2.. now.. look at the unbroken ear, bottom right.. there is a mark.. like a pin might make as it backed out of the bushing, under load, and them made a scrape down and to the right.

Could be the keeper for the pin died.. pin backed out under load, allowing the axle to roll over, in forward direction ( top front begins to move down, while back rear comes up ), with the axle possibly also deflecting slightly to the right, as in the case of a possible left turn.., pin makes the mark on the bushing as the axle is rolling, then the rear ear gives way under torsional stress and leverage from the back half of that hardened pin, being acted on by the large front axle.

I'm not psychic and i got nothing to back that up.. it's a shear WAG.. but seems to fit the facts that we know..

Any other guesses? Also.. a pic of the shear face on that rear ear would be great.

i believe the pin came out sometime during the 5 to 6 hours i was mowing that day which caused the weld to break, which then sheared the other pin.

Soundguy should change his name to "pictureguy" after reveiwing the picture in question I agree, pin came out of the front, angled and loaded all the weight on one "ear" I cant remember the last time I looked at the front axle on my tractor but you can bet when the next time will be,,,, TODAY.

Yep! And a picture of the bolt/pin would also help. Either way, can you imagine how Bwhite must have felt when the front of his TSA115 dropped to the ground? He is darn lucky to have not been injured. No CSI needed for that analysis.;)

You can bet i will be smoking over my tractor wednesday afternoon before I take her out to mow my pasture.. especially after seeing those pics, and considering I have to road her about 4 miles. Somewhat similar front pedistals... etc.

Hi Bwhite! I hope that New Holland does the right thing and covers all your repairs. Please let us know. You can buy lots of good looking tractors in todays market but the true measure of a good tractor and company is in the way they treat their customers and make good on defects, recalls and things that shouldn't happen to their products. By the way, after reading this thread, I crawled under my 2 year old TN65D (135 hours) and was shocked to see one of my bolts was missing! This was one of the bolts that hold the drive shaft guard on. The other bolt was as loose as it could be! No substitute to checking all your bolts on a regular basis. One of my friends ruined the engine on his dozer last month when the bolts on his oil pan worked loose and he lost his oil. Thanks for the wake up call!

Hmm.. 2 ideas come to mind here.

1, At what point does 'due care and maintenance' come into play vs warranty issues on a non- new machine? I.E. If a machine is out of warranty.. .. are you implying the dealer should warranty it anyway? Perhaps an inspection of the front bolster might have showed a missing keeper.. etc. Now.. if it was a defective casting.. It may be arguable... however.. I've had that discussion with NH.. with no 'help'.. etc.. on a defective spool pack on a remote. on disassembly, it was determined to be a defect in manufacturing.. however.. machine was out of warranty.. NH corporate didn't do anything to help.. however the dealer service manager did help me track down some reduced price parts that saved me half the $$ on the bill.

2, Did your buddies dozer not have an oil pressure gauge??
