I have bought a 6' rear blade there as well as a 6' rake.

I have used them both moderately and I have seen no defaults on the quality or in the results of the work. I like them both very much.

I paid $319 for the blade and $469 for the rake. Great value on both accounts.

Don't beat on them and they will provide you with years of good use at the residential level. Not made for commercial use year in, year out. IMO.

I have the 60" Box blade from TSC and love it......I don't use it commercially so it sees only easy work but for my use in dirt/snow it's great.....IIRC $569.

This years snow has been an awesome way to find out its worth.....

As far as the portable garage I stayed away from TCS's Shelter Logic......I ended up getting a heavier model from Shelter Logic 12x20x8' high (round top) for around $550. and it does seem fairly sturdy.....have to keep snow off roof but works for keeping stuff out of weather....it's only temp till new garage sprouts up in back yard.......

Well first welcome to this site and its good to see someone else from Nebraska. I am a frim beliver you get what you pay for but I also think some of the cheaper stuff from TSC will work just fine if not used daily. also craigs list is a great spot to watch if you are not in a big hurry for something.

Of our dozens of implements and attachments, most have come from auctions. There should be no shortage of those in Nebraska, at least that was the case in Kansas when I lived there. Consignment auctions can be a one-stop shop for you, where you can get high-quality implements with substantial life left in them for less than you would pay for lower quality items purchased new. We've also bought used equipment, including discs, mowers, graders, a backhoe, etc., off Mr. Sweet's and others' lots in Kentucky and from private individuals. If you aren't in a rush, auctions and private sales of good, used, high-quality items are the way to go, IMHO.

Excellent points made by all. I think the cost of shipping would dictate that I buy local, otherwise, Mr. Sweet, you have good deals. However, I am in Nebraska so it would literally be shipping it half way across the country. I like the rule about if it has a gearbox, buy better known quality. I have some time before I need the rotary mower, so I will focus on the (box) blade and the shade (shelter)for now. Post hole digger next. I am leery of online auctions, but will keep my eyes peeled. Thanks everyone.

Don't completely write me off. I can ship 800 lb piece of equipment to Omaha, Nebraska from Kentucky for $146. Our shipping is not as expensive as most think. Ken Sweet

Agree. Ken Sweet sold me a outstanding Rear Finish Mower, delivered, here to Northern Michigan for less money than I could have bought a lesser mower from TSC or a comparable Woods from my dealer.

Okay, so what are the best brands? Or maybe the better question is what brands are best avoided?

I also need a rotary cutter, probably 5ft, and a post hole digger.

Your tractor can easily handle a 6' RC. that extra foot can save you a lot of time for not much more money.

We have the Hawkline by Behlen from Huntington, Tn. 5 ft brush hog for $795 with shear pin or slip clutch for $895. The Digger is by the same company for $575 with 9 or 12 inch auger. Ken Sweet
