Re: TuffTorq K46 / John Deere L110 Transmission Repair Guide with Pictures

Crazy to try that thick of oil. 5-50 synthetic motor oil should be best. Some that have loss of power have used a transmission leak additive with some help.

Rebuilding the pump and motor only fixes half of the problem. The part of the case that wears and gets scratched is the other half that needs repair.

I would have though it was crazy too but Ive seen in a few spots people using it and saying they havent had issues, That痴 why I asked.

If the case is worn and scratched you basically cant do an effective rebuild without a new case I assume.

I tried changing fluid a few weeks ago on my Husqvarna YTH24V48 (fast tractor) with roughly 700 hrs on it. Didn稚 make a difference other than it went a little faster in reverse than forward. I broke down and purchased the entire kit from Tuff Torq (2019 prices about $450 plus tax and shipping). Rebuild took all of an hour after reading all 96 pages. The mower moved but still didn稚 go like before when it was new so after a few weeks I checked fluid level and it was fine. Somewhere in on of these pages I read about adjusting the control arm by giving it a little more bend. Did that (breaking my bench vise in the process I might add) and bam! It moves like it was brand new again. I found the control arm was getting stopped by a portion of the frame preventing it from moving all the way forward. Hopefully I can get another 9 years out of it.....now off to the steering mechanism which is an absolute horrible piece of engineering. Thanks for the rebuild advice! Mine was stamped as a K46 but was actually a K57R.

Hi there. Man, this thread is awesome (sad for Tuff Torq it seems as so many seem to go belly up and require significant investment to get back online). I have an awesome Husqvarna LGT24K54, but, had tell tale tranny issues about 2 years ago: After 15-20 minutes, would lose power going up hills. Reverse was considerably slower...

Did you have any of these issues, where power/speed would drop off after getting warmed up? Seems like your issue was the physical impediment to the control arm?

Thanks in advance,

Jay

I'm happy you're happy. Sorry you had so much trouble. You just talked me out of any Husqvarna products.

Let this be a lesson for those who want to buy a rider from lowes, homedepot, walmart box store with no service department.....

I know if you buy a Deere at homedepot, that our dealer will honor warranty and work on it. But the cheaper models do have cheaper parts....Research the warranty.

I just want to chime in here on Husqvarna and "box stores". Kyle_in_Tex, I think you're right, that you should buy tools from Dealers. Box stores sell, in my humble oppinion, light-weight garbage that at the end of the day is likely all the same but with different paint jobs; at least when it comes to small engine tools (snowblowers, lawnmowers, etc.). I think Husqvarna makes great products - when you buy the right 'grade'. Sad though, to your point, that their customer service was not helpful - at all. To me, if they're going to put their Brand on a tool, and get paid, then they should provide some level of help.

Is anyone finding that Tuff Torq no longer sells the individual parts, like the OP mentioned? It says something like "Out of stock - buy repair kit" for things like Cylinder Block: "Cylinder Block Kit motor * Order Repair Kit Out of Stock".

I wonder if people have been trying to get what they Think is the issue, they buy the part, and then when it's something else, they call back and ...complain/ask-a-ton-more-questions? Maybe they're tired of all the questions?

As you can tell, I'm just about to start digging into my Husqvarna LGT24K54 mower... Seems like it's just the cylinder block or motor as it loses power/speed once warmed up. Would rather spend $162 vs. the $427 they emailed me it needs. Funny, no questions to find out more about my issue. I just gave them the bar code and said I was losing power after 10-15 minutes and BOOM: $427 gets you the kit.

Please forgive my stupidity, but: How do I search for "P901"s posts to this thread? Many thank this user for their inputs and I'm trying to find - but having to go page by page by page. With 97 pages...

Thanks for any help.

Jay

If you type the username in the search menu of this thread (between Thread Tools and Display) you can see what I sent.

I did that. But, after doing it again, I clicked into the threads of others who'd Replied to P901 and found the posts that way. Thank you!!!!!
