Tires Turf tires v standard tractor ties

Waiting for the delivery of a JD 3032e. The dealer gave me an option to change the turf tires out for standard tires. Will be using the tractor on 7 acres, mixed pecan trees and some woods, tilling and clearing underbrush. Any advice and experience would be appreciated. Thanks

I have turfs, but do very little that requires additional traction. I think most of the folks will advise you to go with Ags if you aren't doing alot on yard-type grass. Sounds to me like your gonna probably want the additional traction.

There is no such thing as "standard tires". There's R1's, R2's (rarely, if ever, seen on a compact) R3's and R4's. I'm afraid you're going to have to be a bit more specific.

In the interest of moving things along quickly for averybill.
I purchased my JD 2520 with the R3 tires (turf tires) as I intended to do mostly yard work and that entailed a lot of time on my lawn, and snow removal.
The R4 is a more agressive tire and thicker ply I might add gives you better traction quite a few people prefere the R4s when doing a lot of loader work.
I am sure many will chime in, but it does appear you will be doing much more work than simply a lawn so I would think you would be better served with the R4s.

For the uses you have planned I would look at the R1's and R4's. R4's have a better load rating which is great for loader work and also have the best sidewall strength. R1's aren't as strong as the R4's, have a narrower track (more traction due to more weight on a smaller area) and dig in fast in the mud. R1's are good at burying themselves fast in soft ground, I have experience with this on a 1986 Yanmar. R4's have a wider tread pattern which allows for more flotation and wont tear up your yard as bad as R1's. They offer good traction and traction can be improved by filling the tires with antifreeze and or adding rear wheel weights to your machine. Hope this helps.

From your description Turfs would probably be choice #3.

The most important thing is having 4WD on your compact tractor. Most can make a case for their current tire type. I have turf tires (R3s) on my compact and love them. Have used a 790 4WD and loader with R4's and it was nice too.

Consider how you will be using it as the others have said.

Good decision, imho. Don't be surprised if your dealer wants a few more bucks for R4's --- still worth it.
