Hello all. First thank you to each of you for all the years of posting to the forums. I bought a T353HST in 2010. Like many of you my dealer went out of buisness. I think allot of these guys were not getting payed by TYM for their warranty and service work as my dealer and he told them to pack sand. TYM does not do a very good job of working with customers after warranties expire. And based off of all the tym threads I now can see why. So back to the tractor. About 3 weeks ago we had several hails storms here in Colorado that busted out my dash and broke the instrument panel. So when i got back home I tried to start the tractor. It turned over a few times then started the infamous clicking sounds. I also smelt burnt wires. So apon further investigation I found the black ground wire that branches off to 4-5 places behind the dash and travels through the connector down along the engine to the front off the tractor and again branches off to 3-4 places had melted. So i basically unwound the whole harness. I did have moisture in the harness behind the dash from the hail. So i installed a new black ground wire that I ran from both the front and rear locations. In addition I bought a hazard switch, starter switch, cruise switch, a complete dash panel with instrument gauges, starter switch , 3 relays for the front (2 GLOW PLUG,1STARTER) and a new controller as the original had lot of corrosion. So after installing the new ground wire and all the parts I tried once again to start it and low and behold it started to turn over and melted all over again. This time it tried to continue starting even after I let go of the starter switch. So long story short im waiting on 2 new wiring harnesses and a starter. The melting wires to me means a direct short. I scanned the whole harness and taped any worn wires just so they would not arc. Has anyone seen this before? I've tried to contact TYM in Korea and TYM North Carolina. The previous head guy no longer works there and again they simply dont care. The tractor is stuck next to my barn and I have no way to trailer it anywere. Sorry for the long message but wanted to try and be as thorough as possible. Im suspecting a faulty starter. Also is it possible I may have mis wired the starter after removal. There is a female spade connector the goes to the starter. A red a black striped wire with its own terminal rubber boot on the bottom large terminal and on the top their is a battery cable, a red wire, and a combination white and black wire attached so 4 wires on top. I think thats correct acording to my wiring diagram. Does anyone have a pic of the original configuration. These diagrams are a little vague as North Carolina states. They said the Koreans didnt do a very good job on that. Thanks in advance.

To the OP: Let me suggest you read Seasoul's 2 page, currently, Cabela's nightmare electrical thread, and the other currently 9 page thread about Cabelas Tractors. I've read each and they are all useful in understanding the puzzle referred to as Cabelas tractors.
I think your issues may be able to be solved too, by trying to do what I suggested to Seasoul in my most recent post to him in his thread. Basically, there has to be wiring diagrams for the TYM/Cabelas tractors. I suspect they are one in the same as was stated by a poster in the long thread about the tractors.
So seek, find, and oh yeah, one other thing; make some paragraph breaks, especially in long posts. Otherwise it's way to difficult for member to read them, and some won't bother to wade through them.

No problem. To get a pic of the wiring I suggest going to the thread 'Cabelas tractors' and asking one of the guys who owns one to shoot a pic of the connections, and to detail the wire colors to each connection in writing too. I'm sure they would be glad to help you on the specifics. If they can't or won't do it the dealer who Sawyer Rob mentions could do it from one of the tractors in his shop, possibly. If you get the details post it here with pics when you're done to help others....

25 hp not a 354... one separate red going to inside screw. Large wire and a set of 2 wires and a single small one going g to other connection

For those who can't see through the rubber boots can you describe exactly which wires, and color of same go to which screws, connectors?

Largest connection gets the big red. The white black and red black are paired to the connection to the right of large, (closest in picture). Single solid red is to left of large by itself. Hope that helps.
sorry guys my starter has 2 post that are the same size. One on top of the other and the side next to motor has a male spade terminal. If Im not mistaken. The lower terminal has a braided wire that goes right to the starter(itself) and the black/red wire with its own rubber boot. the top post had the battery wire. a black/white combination that also goes to the alternator, and a red wire. Just a little gun shy on hooking it all up and burning things up again. Thanks for all your post :laughing:

Hey, thanks for sharing. Is a '25' a different tractor model? Do you happen to know if there is or do you happen to have a manual for that model? If not do you know where to obtain one for the OP of this thread?

Ok everyone. I was correct on the wiring to the battery. After installing the 2 new harnesses i tried to start it and no luck. Then i installed the old key seitch and walla it fired right up. Thanks for all the post. I think the last time everything got burnt up it took out my new key switch.

Don't you mean, you were right on the starter and solenoid wiring, and you're new ignition switch likely got fried by the recent harness burn?
