The bolt I tightened is the number 2 item in the schematic that TYMinColton posted. This rod goes in to the transmission but something is either missing in the trans or broke. I did try changing the ratio of the pedals, etc. None of that mattered. I thought about disassembling, but I am fairly convinced that it is in the transmission and the TYM dealership I brought it to is part of a much bigger business that services semi trucks including their transmissions. Funny that the owner told me that he could purchase a transmission for one of those big semis for the same price TYM would charge for a rebuilt transmission.
His comments to me were that they will thoroughly check it out and look for the simplest solutions first. He just wanted me to be prepared for the cost if it went there.

I promise to give a full report. Probably another week or so.

Update. I spoke with the TYM dealer and he is looking to find some parts from another TYM tractor. He said that they are thinking that it may be something in the trans that is stuck open allowing flow to not make contact with part of the forward gearing. Hoping that he can get a part for it without needing a trans. Sounded like he really knew his stuff. Doesn't want to remove the transmission yet. Was very knowledgeable on how it works. Impressed so far.

Sounds like you may have found a good mechanic. Hope it's a simple as a few parts and minor labor. Good luck!

Update. The inside of the hydrostatic transmission was cracked. This is cast iron and we are unsure what caused it. I am suspecting the previous owner used some kind of "fix it" stuff which plugged the crack as the forward gears move slower and slower (bought the tractor from a dealer trade-in from out of state). Or, the trip on the trailer may have caused it. Unknown. Originally the dealer said he thought it could be a valve in the trans and looked around for what he thought might be the problem to line up the part from a used hydro trans as the transmissions are a complete unit and several of the internal parts are not normally serviceable. He took photos and, sure enough it was broken allowing the fluid internally to go through the crack and not through the hydro trans. The crack was internal so no external leaking. I am completely convinced this place is honest and ethical.
He was out of smaller TYMs because he sold like 12 unite in a couple weeks. Total price to fix including labor: $4,000. I said well, OK it's no good as is. He said if I wanted to sell he would buy it for his own place and not for resale. I agreed. Very unhappy with the situation, but very please with this guy. He is very fair and decent.
I am convinced it is just a fluke and not representative of TYM in general.

Sorry to hear this. I was hopeful it might be an easy fix. $4k is tough to swallow. Glad you at found a good mechanic who seems honest. Best of luck!
