I've been reading posts on this forum for a little while, and I appreciate all the knowledge that everyone shares here. I'm about to buy a new tractor/loader/backhoe to help me restore an old property that's fallen into 50+ years of disrepair, and I've narrowed my choices to just a few. I've got seven+ acres of old abandoned summer resort property to bring back to life, and the tasks will include extensive grading, trenching, creek-clearing, and materials handling. Three new septic systems need to go in, about a quarter-mile of hilly road needs to be widened by four feet, about a half-mile of road needs to be leveled and gravelled, a 10,000 square foot building site needs to be leveled out, and the creek needs to be cleared out every few years - and that's just the start.

My choices are down to the Kubota L48 TLB, the Kubota L5030 with loader and backhoe, a similarly equipped NH TN55, a Kioti DK55, and the TYM T450 and T580. The L48 is a sweet setup, but pretty pricey. The L5030 and New Holland TN55 are closer to my budget. The Kioti looks like a great value, as do the TYM tractors. I'm having a hard time finding info on the TYM units - anyone have any personal experience with them? From what I see, the T450 isn't going to have enough hydraulic capacity for my liking, but the T580 looks almost perfect.

Thanks very much in advance for your help!

Don't know much about the TYM units, Kioti's seem ok though. One bit of input from me is that if you get a backhoe with it's own PTO driven pump, it will perform better than one driven by the tractor hydraulics.

I own a 2006 T450. Top gun tractor. I am building a 75 acre farm, putting in roads, building the house, and tilling for winter wheat. New rig is perfect and was an excellent investment. Go drive one and you will buy it.

Just bought one 60 days ago a T450, I have 75 new acres to clear, a house and three outbuildings under construction. Very tough tractor. 16 speeds really makes a difference, use 6 way blade on loader to 3790 lbs, 72" loader bucket, fork lift to 1500 lbs, with LITW 7600 backhoe on rear with 16" bucket, 800 lbs rototiller, and several King Cutter blade sets.

Compared to several other tractors I rented 28-50 hp. This one is a jewel. Features dual port hydraulics on rear deck (don't need extra hydraulic pumps), spin on filters (4), quad rotor wet brakes, 3 point class I links, 4 speed PTO, Kubota 2197cc 4 cylinder diesel vs typical 3 cylinders at the same price, electric PTO is very smooth, tight turning radius and steering hydraulics, well designed electrics, and a 36 month bumper to bumper warrantly, 5 years parts. Fit and finish are as good or better than a Deer.

All for a very competitive price. I tried the following other vendors before buying: Kubota 28-50HP, John Deer 20-50HP, New Holland 20-40HP, Jimna 2-45HP, Case, Massy 20-50HP, Yuchi 20-30HP, Mihindra (built by TYM) 20-50HP.

If you want a cab the same tractor as a T451 adds a few bucks but is very nice if you like to have A/C, sound, and heat.

They have great service and parts manuals to keep your investment in excellent condition.

Go drive one, the differences and the TYM approach to quality in your 30 year investment speak for them selves.

I also get excellent support and service both from Adams Tractors (The Dalles OR, talk to Dustin), and the TYM distributor in Redmond OR.

Cheers

Don't want to ruffle any feathers but why do you say a backhoe will perform better with a PTO pump. My experience has been if the tractor has the required GPM there is no improvement and the disadvantage is it can add up to $1000 and one more item to break. I have seen some cases where the backhoe is really too large for the tractor and the tractor does not have the required GPM to run the hoe. (At least at any reasonable speed) In those few cases a PTO pump and reservoir makes sense.
My 2 cents

Id also have to agree with Chipperman, Most if not all Compact tractors meet the recomended Gallons Per Min ranging from around 5.0-8.5 GPM for most applications (6-8 foot backhoe from Woods, Bradco or Ameriquip and Im sure mos others),There is no performance benifit to go with a PTO pump as far as speed or power. Most hydraulics have a rating of around 2200 Psi plus or minus 200 Psi

I agree as well. Take the Montana 3840. I have one right now on my lot with an MBH76 hoe on a sub-frame. I run the supply off the tractor and send the return directly into the main sum.

The hoe only requires between 5-8gpm so the performance is excellent, could be run all day and never heat up and this saves the customer from having to buy an expensive pto pump.

This is an excellent set up that is more affordable and performs flawlessly.
