If you're looking at a cabbed TYM 394, ................built A-series Cummins made by Kukje instead of a Yanmar. it is much more quiet,

Hi TYMNorsky,

This is very interesting.
Do you confirm that TYM T394 is louder than TYM T474 ?
May be you know this video on youtube :
TYM T474 HST Tractor 4x4 w/ Air Conditioned Cab - 36 Interior "Walk-around" and Review - Video 2 - YouTube
At 3min 49s the owner says there is a sound level of 80-86 dB in the cab.
Do you really need to use ear protection in your cab T474 ?
Just to know if I buy this tractor in spring.

Phil

If you mean if I used a decibel meter between the two? No, just from the sound outside when I looked at the 394 vs the 474. The outside sound level was significant noisier between the Yanmar and the Kukje.

Thanks for the reply Jeff9366. To amswer your questions this will be my first tractor. But I am trying to avoid buying to small of a machine as a few freinds have tractors and they have both said the same thing. They said to buy a bigger tractor than you think you will need. Having said that I have done brakes/oil changes/most minor things on my cars. I do not have a truck/trailer that can tow the tractor to the dealer so I would be dependant on the dealer or paying a third party to pickup/dropoff the tractor. but where I am in NH there isnt a dealer 15 minutes away from any brand.

You have very smart friends... Do your research think about the size of attachments you are going to be using. Especially 3pt attachments...make sure you have enough tractor for the equipment...
I haven't been here very long but I have seen a lot of
Trying to use way too big of attachments for too little of a tractor.. GL with your purchase.

May I recommend T474 instead of a T394 (Same chassis size, just 10hp more).

Or if you want one size larger, may I recommend T494 (Same engine 48.3Hp as T474) T574 has same frame size, but is turbo equipped with 55Hp.

Same chassis size, just 10hp more.

This is exactly why I am waiting for TYM T475 (aka T474). Same chassis, more powerfull and....quieter because I have to work in tight zones (orchard)
and size matters !
