TZ18 Loader

I have a Tz18 with a loader and 25hrs on it . The loader jerks going up and down sometimes violently. The dealer has worked on it four times with little success. The problem has been there from the start but new holland says it is not a problem. any suggestions? Jim

Define "jerks". On the bigger new hollands you can feather the valve. Not sure if the little ones are all or nothing. On my TC18 if you don't use a light touch, it will jerk around.

Could be some air in the system, cycle it up and down. Is the dump/curl circuit OK?

Every once in a while, I get the same thing on my 24hp twin to the TZ, which has the same loader as yours. It usually seems to happen when the fluid isn't fully up to operating temps, or when the throttle is a little too low. It also seemed to do it more when newer. I'm now at 50 hours, and it doesn't do it as much, but that could be because I have learned what conditions cause it to do that. I also think that too much air in the system causes it, and with all the times you're dealer has worked on it (and introduced air into the system as a result), that could be compounding the problem. Make sure you operate the FEL at above 2000 rpms & with a little more time to bleed out some more air, it should settle down.

Keep in mind that the FEL, 3ph, transmission, and steering all tap into that 13.8 quarts of hydraulic fluid, and the 5.6 gpm pump capacity doesn't do well if splitting the hydraulic pressure between multiple tasks, like a slow creep while lifting the bucket, or turning while creeping & lifting, etc. Just one of those things with a smaller machine. I can get a BX22 to do the same thing given the right conditions.
