Did anyone else notice that deer and fish are included? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
All of us fishermen and deer hunters can then be electronically tracked. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Imagine, tagging a deer and never having to go to a check station. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Imagine, your creel limit checked for you...even without your knowledge!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think that it is overkill as a result of the mad cow disease scare.

I could be wrong, but USAIP sure looks like a private company, not a government agency. I took a quick look at the USDA website, but couldn't find anything like this. Maybe they're just trying to scate people into buying their services.

Go to the Home Page and you will see how the Organization got started.... It is an industry co-operative with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Don't know for certain, but this might be being organized like the Society for Prevention of Animals..... a private group that has police powers given to it by the state. They as a private organization, can do things that are Constitutionally prohibited by the state doing. An example would be taking away your dog without a warrant.
Check out the home page.... web page

Mike

After careful study of the sight it appears that it has been in play before the Mad Cow scare. It also looks as though there is already an ID program in place but much less broad. Also the lead on this seems to be the Live Stock industries. I think when we sell Livestock to other countries that those countries want a consistent safety factor in place. I am sure the industry would get a better price in the long run for there product in overseas markets. It kind of reminds me of the I.S.O. 9000 program . Not to defend this in anyway because I do not have enough fact to do so. But I am not sure it is a government pushed initiative

You know, my wife has been telling me that for almost 28 years. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I'm gonna have to start working on this. Maybe she'll let me drive up to CT for one of your NE get-togethers. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gary,

We have a diiference of opinion then.

My take on this is it is an extension of work already being undertaken. How far back you go in the food chain is how far back we can discuss this. The USDA has many programs to aid in the identification, inspection, dispersal and consumption of the nations food supply. The program is but another extension thereof.

Why is this needed - one example - SARS - chicken breeding virus, transformed/mutated to infect us.
I am sure other examples can jump to mind.

I can assure you, that the governments number one priority in dealing with citizens is privacy of information. Now others may join in, (Mike gets into asbesto suit now). /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Really....
