I'm surprised that Texas could be defeated by zombies. They seem to be able to take care of themselves.

i see all the gun friendly states doing MUCH better than the states with harsh gun rules, and also states with huge city populations...

The south will rise again and has been for the last 15 years winning the economic war. Think Boeing plant in SC. Would be two but Obama put a stop to the second one. Or BMW and Volkswagen all down south. Compared to Detroit or Chicago.
I believe the above examples speak for themselves and need no more explanation to anyone who has every run a business, or even cares about our country.
In all fairness back years ago some of my best employees came from upstate NY. They talked with a different accent than we have here but they were highly skilled, good at there jobs and worth there weight in Gold to me.
The only true test would be to send 1 million Zombies North and South. I believe in the South they would be stopped cold in VA for years just like General Grant was. Meanwhile I would expect them to cut a wide path through the northern states while everyone looked for a government bailout.
This is all in fun no harm intended. I would like to apologize for my grammar and spelling as mentioned in previous post. Down here we all hit the tobacco fields at age 10 or less no more schooling. That is exactly why Boeing wanted second plant. So they could access uneducated worthless employees.

I think a lot depends on how the virus is spread. If like the walking dead (TWD)everyone is infected and when they die they become one, or if its transmitted only by bite you have much different issues. If everyone is infected then cities are to be avoided at all cost, along with hospitals, etc...all large population areas, it makes survival much harder.
If you have read SK "The Stand", I though he did a great job at the beginning of describing the everyday common things that would happen to a survivor.
I think TWD shows what it will take to survive, a community, how fast can you pull together, how fast can you work together?
If you have not read World War Z by max brooks I would say that's a great book and do not pay attention to the movie.
As far as who would stop it cold north vs south, you are forgetting something Country is Country no matter what side the Mason Dixon you are on. Country (boy) will survive, urban yuppie not so much

There's the point ... community , pulling/working together ... most city/urbs haven't the foggiest idea how to .. its usually ME ME ME Mine ....

lots of great people all across this continent that would fare well , but many others would go down real quick due to lack of common sense.
