udt-sudt ?

Im due for my 1st hydro service. The dealer had only udt, said udt is interchangable with sudt in the hydrostat plus tranny. Can anyone substantiate this?

Working for a Kubota dealer for quite sometime now,.. the service rep assures me they are the same oil.

I didn't say UDT I said PUDT that stands for PREMIUM UDT,.. as far as I know UDT and SUDT are no longer available and if you are buying it its old stock,. as in discontinued. The only thing available it Premium udt,.. which is a multiviscocity to replace the aforementioned.

Sorry for confusion, i was refferring the the original post UDT vs SUDT

Although I was not awhere they renamed SUDT since i just bouth some the other week.

There must be a lot of old stock out there so we just wanted to make it clear to the original poster the there is a difference between UDT and SUDT if thats what his store is still carrying UDT. He idid not mention PUDT.

No harm done,.. I guess I should have clarified a little more myself.

From my knowledge,.. they did improvements to the transmissions and hydraulics over the years,.. and to reduce cost for supplying 2 different oils,.. they incorporated both oils into one,.. Premium UDT, it is a replacement of the UDT and SUDT

Its kubota labled, so im sure it's top quality. Thankx everyone, this hydro oil is not cheap, i would hate to perform this service with the wrong product.

Depends on the dealership I guess and what they want to charge to be competitive. I'm not in parts, but service,. so we will have to wait till someone chimes in.

Is PUDT a Canadian product? Our dealer only has UDT and SUDT. Or is it just out in "the big city" and not to us hicks yet?

I have the same question as john_bud. I just bought SUDT from my dealer a month ago and they had to go to the back and get it because it had just come in and hadn't been put on the shelf yet.

Wonder if I got old product?

I've not yet heard of PUDT but I wish I hadn't believed some posts on this board when I changed my fluid. There were convincing messages claiming SUDT was Chevron Synthetic repackaged for Kubota, this turned out to be inaccurate and the Chevron has higher heat performance. I am not totally sold on SUDT and think perhaps the UDT had better high heat abilities? My B2410 originally called for UDT OR SUDT but in the Work Shop Manual calls for SUDT.

My questioning is I am having the same symptoms of power steering as noted in the links. May be a different problem, but same symptoms. Mine is clearly heat related as my power steering is one finger until things are heated up while mowing. I have since noticed I can run with a box blade in high range at time nearly bogging the engine and do not encounter as much steering loss as when mowing, so apparently mowing is more strenuous on a machine than it seems.

I'm coming up on another fluid change and I'll be looking at higher heat handling ability and\or a bigger trans cooler. Now having a service manual I'll be needing to check pressures and temps also, haven't gotten there yet.

I never thought of that, most of our product is shipped to us from Ontario,.. but I did notice yesterday on a 4l jug of PUDT that it said made in Canada.

Maybe I was wrong in my initial statement about the UDT and SUDT, and if I am I apologize. I am curious now,.. but on the MSDS sheets the only listing is UDT and PUDT through Kubota Dealerlink.

Not sure, but I seem to recall that Canada has to rename the product due to some conflict with some other "sudt" named product. It's fuzzy in my weak and woeful memory, so it could be totally wrong! I also thought that Canada only carried the sudt equivalent due to the lower expected temperatures. Again, from memory...

No worries about any potential mis-statement. We've all made plenty !
