I'm struggling with this issue. my mind says I need to get the 424 international for $1900 is on a 12 volt system. the case 430 is $1650 diesel on a 6 volt. the 424 is a little stronger. anything I need to know about with each? thanks guys
Been there. PHD with an 8N (well mine was a 2N) is a PITA. Got it stuck too many times. Then you spend all your time and energy to extract it. It's a man killer. And as mentioned, too fast of ground speed for a rototiller.
The diesel Case will save you lots of $ on fuel if you plan to use it for many hours a year- though it may be a pain to start in really cold weather. I have a Case 530 diesel backhoe.
My first tractor was a Case SC, liked it a lot. Had two rear remotes that I used to run a logging winch and the Eagle Claw hitch. Definitely a great tractor for its time. Hope you are taking care of yours.
Yes- it was my great grand father's tractor so it stays in the shed. I haven't started it for about 2 years but it was my main workhorse for cutting/raking/baling hay 10 years ago. I turn the engine once or twice a year to be sure it isn't freezing up. There are many times that I miss the tight turning radius of the narrow front end...
