Do you have gophers in your area. In our area poly pipe started out to be quite popular then the gophers began knawing on the pipes. Don't know why, they just do! The telco and the contractor that lays underground phone cables for them found that certain types of armored phone cable was attacked and ruined by gophers where other types apparently didn't appeal to the gophers. Food for thought.
Is the $ you might initially save enough incentive to put substandard 100 PSI pipe in the ground considering the hassle of having to redo or repair it. If you have expansive soil then avoid the thin stuff like the plague. Even the good stuff should have a little zig zag in it to allow for soil movement.
