Welcome to the forum.......sorry about your concerns. Others have already said it but.....you have a lawn mower.....not a tractor......you might be expecting too much from that machine. Any options of trading it in for a bigger unit??? Good luck.....

You should also be disappointed in your dealer. He should've asked what you were going to be using it for and sized it to your needs. It would be in his best interest, and he'd have a happy repeat customer.

You could search Craigslist for a used front mount snowblower for it.

Dealer might be Lowes or any other store that hires people with no tractor knowledge.

I came here looking for information to keep my JD LA105 lawn tractor running.
My tractor has given be continuous problems including a worn mower deck, a bad carburetor that needed to be replaced, and constant mysteries with the safety switches. I have snow blade with chains and weights but it can't touch a good Indiana snow. Basically I am zero percent satisfied with a tractor that I bought because of the name.

As others have said, in one way or another, you did not buy the wrong name, you bought the wrong model for what you want to do.

Did you buy it from a JD dealer or a big box store?

Sorry but you purchased something that was not designed to do the jobs you intended to do with it when you made the purchase.

A friend or co-worker probably lead you astray by telling you that they owned a similar unit as what you purchased and it would do everything you would ever do.

As Koua has pointed out, the transmission will be marginal if used solely for grass mowing and a ticking time bomb if used for other chores.

Unfortunately, the LA series was designed for price, meant to be sold at Lowes, Home Depot, etc alongside other cheap mowers. Really, it's no better or worse than any of the other mowers in that price range, but I suspect many customer are fooled into thinking it's better because it's a Deere. You would have needed to step up to a Deere LT or X model (depending on age of your LA) to get into a higher quality machine. You'd also have needed to pay a lot more.

What year is the LA, and how many hours on it?

I bought a Deere LT-150 back in 2002, and it's still going strong 12 years later. I suspect it will outlast me. Back then, Deere offered a cheap "Sabre" model line (equivalent to your LA) and the LT series. There was a huge difference in build quality and the LTs were noticeably beefier in every regard than the Sabres. Price wise, the LTs were more than double, but you definitely got what you paid for.

My BIL had a La series, What a piece of crap that was. Always broke and can't be relied on but he got it cheaper than my unheard of to him Simplicity.

Welcome from wv. Back when I worked part time at lowes we sold tons of those la 105 mowers because of paint and easy financing. Not a high quality product"........
