I guess it is time for an update, its been over a month since my last post! I've been so busy with everything that I haven't even had time to be on TBN that much! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
As for the Unimog I have got the tranny all back together and painted. Here is a photo of the tranny and engine. I have been working on the small things like the brakes, getting the rims powder coated ( a great silver metallic, who knew there were so many shades of silver!) And have been searching for parts. Next post is about the need for a new rear axle! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Nice job. Are you still married? Did the wife move your belongings out to the garage yet?
Now for why I need a to find a new rear axle /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I guess when it was a city truck someone forgot to turn off the air lockers on pavement. Needless to say when I opened the axle up half the parts are gone /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif and the axle housing is all chewed up. It will still run as an open diff. but what good is owning a Unimog with out air lockers that work! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif So If anyone knows where there might be a 406-416 Unimog parts truck, PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE let me know!!!!! I can just replace the one half of the axle housing that is chewed up and the missing parts, but will change the whole thing if need be. You can see in the photo that one tooth of the locker dog is mostly missing and the inside of the housing is "just not right" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thanks for the update Von, I love seeing these projects in progress. Bummer about the axle, are the individual pieces available? In fact, are any/all parts still available through Mercedes Benz?
