Looking for some advice. Ive been looking at getting a pto pump kit for my bh9000 instead of running it off the power beyond. I want to be able to run the tractor at lower rpm's when digging. I guy down the road has a pump kit he says is off a BH9000. The pump on it is an eaton 25505. I called woods and the guy there said it prob wasnt their pump kit b/c he was showing a cross brand pump as being used. So I looked at the specs of the eaton pump and I cant figure out what I am missing. The charts only go down to 750 rpm and if you extrapolate down, the flow is so low that I cant imagine it being used on a 9 foot hoe - about 4 GPM. Am I missing something? here is the link to the pump:

Eaton - Series L2, Model 25505, Hydraulic Gear Pump, 2.61 Cu. In

I felt like I almost got in a shouting match with the guy talking about it. Im just trying to determine if this pump kit will meet my needs. He says that a real big pump and why would anyone buy it if it was only 4 GPM and that woods definitely made the kit despite what the tech guy said, etc.. So Could someone check me if I am reading the pump specs right? Also it says "minimum rpm at rated pressure 750". What will happen If I run her down to 540 or below? Why do you think they would use a pump with a 2500 rated rpm? My tractor is 10 GPM and thats a good speed for the backhoe but if i could cut the engine rpms in half, that would be great so I guess I would be looking for a 20 GPM at 540 correct? Thanks.

It looks like that pump displaces 2.61 cubic inches per revolution.
From the Surplus Center calculator, at 540 PTO RPM that pump would give you 6GPM which is in line with what is shown on the chart (note that the GPM and Cubic Inch/Revolution numbers are in the square brackets, the other numbers are Liter/Minute and Cubic Centimeter/Revolution).
IMO, you would be better off using the power beyond.

Right that about what I figured. IT sure doesnt seem adequate to me. I figure I need about an 8 CI displacement to get 10 GPM at 270 pto speed. I am having trouble finding such a pump. Prince makes one in the ballpark, but unfortunately all their pumps are 2250 maxx psi. My hoe is set at 2400 and I dont really want to take a hit on my digging forces. Any ideas?

now that's got me wondering what my woods 6500 has as a pto pump.

I have that 6500 installed on an old ford 850, and can run the tractor at high idle and have PLENTY of digging speed / power. In fact.. if I run at pto rpm.. the machine jerks and reacts to fast and is harder to deal with... must be a pretty high volume pump / my cy;s are a tad smaller displacement than the 9000.. etc..

I was reading a thread a while back and someone was saying how 10 gpm was PLENTY for a 9 foot hoe. I sure dont find it to be enough. Actually I find it just about right, but thats with the full 10 gpm thus the engine is running at rated rpm which sure is a waste. Thinking I can run half of rated and still have plenty of power to run the hoe. I guess it partly depends on how experienced an operator you are. I myself am only a weekend warrior. Maybe some others can chime in and mention what GPM they are using on their hoes?

A 2.61 cu in pump turning at 3500 rpm, can pump about 40 GPM. Requires about 82 HP.

--------------------------------540 ---------------------------6 GPM. Requires about 12 HP.

How much PTO HP do you have.

You would need 8.6CI to be exact. Surplus Center sells a couple of PTO pumps that bracket that size. They have a 7.8CI pump, a 9.9CI pump
The 9.9CI pump would give you 11.6GPM at 270RPM and the 7.8 would give you ~9GPM at 270RPM.

The actual woods pump and reservoir kit for the BH9000 is #9504 and it does 9 GPM at 540, so the woods guy says. Just seems awful low. maybe Im the only one who wants to idle down their tractor while digging? There is one on ebay for $700. The guy who has the one with the eaton pump wants $500. I could get that one and swap out the pump if I can find a suitable one.

Aaron, the problem with those pumps is they only deliver 2250 PSI. I can use 2400.
