Pu it home with the truck unless the tires are junk. I've pulled a 12' haybine down thr highway at 45 and a 200 bushel manure spreader at the same speeds and the tires on that were in rough shape. I greased the bearings up well and didn't get in a hurry. Check the bearings often at first.

If it was me, I'd load the scraper onto some 2x4's on the flat to act as skids. Then back up the trailer to where you kind of want the scraper to be, hook a chain to it and pull it off with the tractor and let it fall on the ground. I've also hooked the chain to a tree and driven forward with box blade that I couldn't pick up at the time, and it slid off the back of the trailer as I drove away. Then I hooked it up to the 3 point hitch and went to work.

Those are all great ideas.

I like the 'skid' idea. I have plenty of lumber that I could bolt/nail together to make a temporary skid on which to place it while on the trailer. Then, as you say, I could simply position the trailer advantageously and pull the skid and the scraper off as a unit. This should keep the cutting edge of the pan from gouging the trailer.

Trailer is a long Deckover flatbed with ramps. (borrowed if I do it).

Should I decide to go for it, I'll let you know.

Totally OT, but I'm doing some design work at the Quad plant in Versailles.

I don't know what they're called, but there are low bed semi trailers that detach behind the tractor so stuff can just roll off them. Shipping any distance would be painfully expensive.

They are called drop decks and moving the ops machine on a drop deck would not solve the issue. Picture a vehicle with wheels on one end and none on the other.

I recently had to unload a 24 ft gooseneck off a drop deck trailer and ended up digging a notch in a slope on my property. We backed the drop deck trailer in the notch in the hill and threw a few logs in the gap and drove the gooseneck trailer right off.

The drop deck gets everything closer to the ground. Tractor would be able to hook and go.

I think you guys mean a RGN (removable goose neck). A drop deck is simply a trailer with a step in the deck height. Most goose neck trailers are actually a double drop deck and the equipment sits in a 'well'.

Back up to a hill or loading dock type ramp. Hitch up & just tow it straight off.

That's it. I knew it wasn't a single or double drop, but didn't know what it was called. Here's what he'd have to deal with when loading: Nelson Manufacturing Co. | Custom Built Trailers :: Hydraulic Gooseneck Trailers Click on the top pic on the right.
