unsynchronized tranny use?

I think you should too. I know someone with a late 80’s JD with a manual transmission and he pretty good with it. I’m not sure if it has any synchros or not. He has had both knees replaced too but gets along well with it.
I had one of those 2000 year unsynchronized manual transmission JDs for 22 years. Yes I used it and did work. No I would never buy one of those again.

Locally found a 2001 John Jeere 4700 with less than 200 hours on it AND is hydrostatic. Asking over 30K for it and looking at them on-line seems to be waaaaay to much.
That is way too much for a 2001 tractor. You may as well buy new and get 5+ years no interest financing if you are going to pay $30K.

I’m not sure on the price of that 4700. Might sound high but these days maybe not. I assume it comes with a loader. Any other attachments? That’s very low hours, it pre emissions and it’s a pretty good size with a pretty powerful loader. Looking at tractor data I’d say with a loader it cost $30k new or a little less.

I looked thought several tractor sales sites and found them listed at 15 to 20K all with many hours. This local one has a aftermarket cab that look awful and three point blade that looked near new. Not sure the blade and low hours would add 10K to the price.

To me, and this is just me, the emissions thing is over rated concern. Sure, you dont really want the added cost of the system on a new machine, but I wouldn't pay new machine prices for a used machine Just to avoid emissions. Now, if the used machine is a good fit, at a good price, sure; but not worth a premium.

Certainly not the blade.

On the high dollar side, but someone will get it and have a good tractor, IMO. Doesn't sound like it will be you. You could offer less and see what happens.

We will contact the owner of 2001 John Deere 4700 but dropping its price by 10K seems unrealistic.

John Deere 4700 Retailer says,,,,,,, Just dropped the price from 3495 to 3195. Also remember you will not have to pay sales tax on it through me either so that's saving you another $2000.
