To remove the vertical exhaust pipe you grasp it at the guard and lift up. You may have to wiggle it a little. Its a good tight fit. Then you can lift the hood as normal. The only drawback to the verical exhaust I have seen yet. When working in the dark the worklights reflect off it somewhat, but the other advantages outweigh that.

dirtworksequip, good pic, can you provide a shot of it that shows it all the way to the top?

BTW, what type of cab is that Curtiss?

yes it does. Great looking Cab, i just figured out that is the Stock cab for your unit. i was wondering if there is something close to that available for my 4310?
No OEM cabs for your series of tractors. Curtis Cabs makes hard and soft sided cabs for your tractor. They don't look bad but don't have the creature comforts and fit of a OEM.

At least you got a cab! My 1070 has the 'up' exhaust but no cab, so after runnin that thing all day I can say that I stink. But with this new bio-diesel we're using at work, I'm not sure if I smell like a french-fry or not.

Just to balance the discussion a little bit, I have a 4310 with a Curtis cab and standard exhaust. I hardly ever notice the exhaust odor and don't have any big hankering to replace the exhaust with a vertical one. My stock exhaust pipe does a good job blasting the exhaust forward and left, to the point where part of the front mounted blower gets some black residue on it each winter.

The vertical exhaust does look kind of cool, though.

To each his own.

unit40, not so sure I'd want to smell like a french fry if I were in bear country!

TMcD, the biggest problem I found with the stock exhaust was that when hand unloading anything out of the bucket with the tractor running put the exhaust right in my face.

The other thing I did not care for was that while brush hogging or mowing the exhaust blew up a lot of dust. And even being in the cab I did'nt care for that.

Yep, I can see how that could bug you.
