All--I am looking at buying my 1st tractor and the 7520 is one of the options. It would be very helpful if all those that owned the 7520 would please give us an update on when they bought, price, hours on tractor, equipment/implements and prices, problems w/tractor, any problems w/service and or parts availability, why u bought Mahindra, and if u had it to do all over again would u buy Mahindra over other brands (why/why not).

I have a quote in the neighborhood of $27K for a new 7520 w/FEL --is that a good price? thanks

I believe $27K with FEL is an extremely good price. I paid $37K for mine (no tax) equipped with FEL, Backhoe w 2 buckets, Canopy, Grill Guard, Tooth Bar. I got the 72" Bucket on my FEL and the Skid Steer compatible attachment means. More Later on use status.

Spyderlk--thanks for the post. I hope some others w/the 7520 will post also which will help everyone who has that model.

Do u find a lot of uses for the backhoe? Some folks have told me that if I want a backhoe to hire it out (ie get a real backhoe). What do u say?

thanks

Rob,I purchased my 7520 back in Dec 04, don't remember the price right now. Your quote sounds good though. Actual problems that I have had have been, #1,dim cowl light, #2, cracked radiator overflow tank, and #3, loose position & draft control levers. I took care of these concerns myself.

Unfortunately I only have 110 hrs on the tractor, been to busy with other stuff to make full use of the tractor.:(

Some of the reasons that I bought my Mahindra were, #1, all the standard items that were options on other brands,#2, weight,#3, price. Now some of the things that were standard when I bought are now options with Mahindra as well.

Yes, I would purchase this tractor again if I needed one of this size.

I highly recommend that you ask your dealer about all options for this tractor, it is better to get what ever you might need at the time of the purchase. I wrote a review that is in the review section, you might want to check it out.

Good luck.:)

Mtnviewranch--thanks for the reply. I did read your review and I think your update is very helpful. Most reviews seem to be very early in the life of a new tractor and these updates really help some of us new folks decide on what tractor to buy. Also, updates on the specific models would be great in determining the quality, customer support, maintenance and operations costs associated w/Mahindra. I hope others will post on their long term experiences w/this model tractor. Right now I am looking at this tractor compared to the Kubota M7040 and a New Holland TD75 (still waiting on a price). JD seems to be very expensive and out of the running. Also I looked at MF but didn't like them as much. If other 7520 owners would post updates/write a review as u did I think it would go a long way to educating folks on Mahindra.

Blu 82, the Kubota and the New Holland are great tractors in their own right. All have similar qualities, except weight, if you are going to be doing ground engaging work, keep this in mind. I know that when I was looking, the Kubota salesman said that they could add weight to get it as heavy as the Mahindra and my response was ok, but what if you add weight to the Mahindra. He stopped there. And of course if you do not plan on a lot of dirt work, then the weight factor is a lot smaller factor in your decision.;)

Here are the prices that I paid back in Dec 04.

7520 4x4 tractor with jerry can front weights and rear wheel weights, 2 rear remotes.----------------------------------------------------$23,000
ML275 loader,QA 84"bucket.----------------------------------------$5,600
Hydraulic self leveling loader option.---------------------------------- $986
Grill guard. ----------------------------------------------------------$200
Fiberglass canopy ---------------------------------------------------$400
60"wide QA pallet forks ----------------------------------------------$750
Midwest Rb40-96 6 way rear blade -----------------------------------$926
Hydraulic Top & Tilt -------------------------------------------------$626
Land Pride Pd35 post hole digger ----------------------------------- $1495
6,9,12,18,& 24 inch augers all with replaceable cutting edges --------$1676
81" root grapple with Mahindra One Touch control -------------------$2411

Hopefully this information will be helpful to you and others, good luck with your decision.:)

I really like Mahindra as will be known if you've read any of my past posts. However, I think that making a buying decision on weight is not being very wise. If weight is close to the top of you list of importance, stop now and just go buy a Foton. You will get much, much more weight and hp for your dollar than with Mahindra. Weight is extremely cheap to add when compared to almost anything else on a tractor. To answer your question; what do you get when you add weight to a heavy tractor, you get too heavy of a tractor. Nothing helpful or special there. And, as stated hundreds of times here before, you can always add weight, but you cannot take it away if you are too heavy. There is no debating that issue.

Mahindra has plenty of merits that make it a good tractor and a good buy. However, if weight is one of your top three reasons for buying any particular tractor, someone has sent you in the wrong direction. Weight is a very poor indicator of quality. I don't want to name them as to not offend anyone, but I can give you plenty of brands that weigh more than a Mahindra but I'd personally consider them junk. You get considerably better advice on buying a tractor if you follow your own common sense. Drive the tractor. How does it feel? Use the hydraulics. How do they feel? Are they smooth? Do they feel solid; even the controls? How does the tractor handle? Is the steering smooth? How is the turning radius? Does the tractor shimmy and shake? Look at the stats of the tractor's capacities including engine hp, PTO hp, 3 pt. hitch capacity, FEL capacity, transmission options. How is the fit and finish? How is the dealer? I could go on and on with dozens of things that I'd rate considerably more important than weight. If a salesman kept trying to sell me on the weight of a tractor, I'm going the other way. Just a few things to consider.

Dargo, I am not comparing all tractors, I was comparing Kubota and New Holland. I agree that weight alone is not a good reason to buy a tractor. What I was trying to get across was that Kubota, Mahindra, and New Holland are all great tractors. But Mahindra is the heaviest of these 3, you can add about the same amount of weight to all 3. The Mahindra will still be the heaviest after the weight is added. From my experience, if you are doing a lot of ground engaging work, the heaver the better as long as you have the power to go along with it. I have my 7520 about as heavy as I know how to make it to get full usage from the power it has and the implements that I have for it.

When looking at tractors in the 40hp range a Kubota/NH dealer told me a weakness of those tractors was the lack of weight, which causes big problems when bushhogging hillsides.

I have personally seen many times when a tractor that was too light for the given HP leads to dangerous situations in the field in my area. In places where the ground is flat it may not be a problem, but here in Eastern Kentucky the lack of weight is a definite problem.

MtnView, while I do not agree with you at all on your concept of the importance of weight, (it's way too easy to add weight without much expense at all) I will agree with you that the 7520 is undoubtedly one nice tractor. Fair enough?
