Update on BX pulling capability

Folks - as you may (or may not) remember from about a month ago, when I was originally deciding on what to purchase, I posted the question about being able to pull my trailer (about 3000 pounds) from the back yard up to the front so that I could hitch up with my truck. The catch was that the drive was pea gravel. Well, last weekend was the first real test. On Friday night I hitched up the trailer an pulled it out to the front with the BX2200. There was a little bit of a struggle getting it going, but once it started I was able to slowly move it to the front. The struggle concerned me so I spent about an hour re-working the gravel with the FEL, removing quite a bit of it. On Saturday we returned. I backed the trailer into the drive and unhitched. Brought out the BX2200 and had a go. It was extremely tough going! After struggling for a few minutes (in low gear and 4WD), I remembered the little pedal at my feet - the locking rear wheels. I hit the pedal and the trailer started backing. From there the process was line up the trailer, straighten the wheels, lock the wheels, backup. Repeat as necessary. The nice part was that once the trailer got back to where I had worked over the gravel it moved very smoothly. Guess I'll have to rework the front section also.

By the way, My initial estimate of 4-6" of pea gravel was wrong - in some areas I had around 9-10" of gravel! I am definately impressed with this little orange beast!!

Interesting what these little tractors can do. I am constantly amazed.

I got an idea, take the pea gravel and mix it with cement and then you got concrete and all your problems will go away. In 9 inches of pea gravel I am not sure a L class tractor would not occasionally struggle. Why the pea gravel? and so thick? J

Why so thick? Let's just say I'm not really happy with the company I had come out an do that portion of my landscaping at the moment. I had asked for a small amount of gravel, ended up with the 9". On the bright side - if I had not received that much gravel, I would not have "needed" the BX!
