Update on RX6010 with low hours motor failure

Speaking of spreading manure and warranties, I know for a fact JD will not stand behind their manure spreaders even when under warranty.

"Priceless" .. in SO many ways.

They gave you a warranty period clearly stated. It didn’t say however how long you think it should be. And it’s not 3 hours expired it’s a year expired. Why should kioti help you? Would you expect insurance to buy you a new car if you canceled full coverage insurance and totaled it 2 weeks later? Would you expect a vehicle manufacturer to offer a no charge motor swap a year out of warranty? And I agree the other dealers are making that up. They don’t make the call to send a new engine and pay an expensive shop tab. It’s easy to make promises you’ll never have to keep. Even if you do intend on keeping a promise you can’t make promises out of your control. Or maybe you left out the year out of warranty part.

The dealer believes 2 sleeves in the valve train came out trashing the motor. Repair cost is so high it makes more sense to put in a new motor.
...

I really have to wonder what valve train "sleeves" could possibly cause damage to two cylinders and the head. This just doesn't sound right. The tech data I have indicates this is a 4-cylinder turbo engine with a mechanical IP. The overhead valves are push-rod operated and all camshafts are gear driven off the crankshaft. I am not interested in the warranty dispute but I'd sure like to know what happened to that motor. The video in the OP's earlier post shows a lot of green engine coolant running out and a block heater on the ground. I can't connect the dots of what happened.

Our John Deere dealer gave us a new engine out of warranty; failure of a replaced thermostat. Shop Foreman was the driving force behind the end result.
That's completely different. "They" installed a part on an engine and that part failed causing catastrophic engine failure. Last one to touch it, broke it.

it's just Kioti- "I have talked with a number of different brand dealers and they have all guaranteed me that if something like that happened with the brand they sell a new motor would be installed free of charge." now that makes sense, a manufacturing defect like that should be covered!..
I bet ya have.Laffin.You give SO MUCH miss information in this kioti section it is nothing more than laughable.

Still unclear what exactly failed and what you were doing when it failed.

@VTDT-

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles and I'm sure this is super frustrating. As the recent purchaser of a Kioti I'm following this with interest. I think it's valuable for other owners and potential owners to know that an engine with only 450 hours can have this kind of failure. Like other posters here I can't really connect the dots on what actually happened/when/how. Any info you can share on that would be helpful to the rest of us.

To me this post is mostly about frustration (not vindictiveness) over damage to a little used machine. It would be nice to hear that Kioti would help you out. I wouldn't expect warranty replacement but some kind of gesture would have been well received. Obviously they have no legal obligation but meeting you part way would sure show a lot of good will and help build their reputation. I'm sure it's a business decision on their part. But these kind of stories (like Eric's) have a cumulative effect. If it becomes clear that a company bends over backwards to keep their customers happy (including doing things out of warranty) that's good to know and a company I'd like to do business with even if their initial prices are higher. If the opposite is true, as a consumer, I'd also like to know that.

The other aspect I don't follow are the posts about mis-information and those that act like this wouldn't frustrate them. I know this would be frustrating if it happened to me and turning to TBN for a bit of advice/support/venting makes sense to me.

If/when you get clarity on exactly what went wrong please do post back.

I know of car manufacturers that recalled, and replaced many things, defective automatic transmissions replaced well after the warranty expired is one case, but there were a lot more things replaced because they were defective!. maybe tractors are immune from liability?.

When a dealer performs warranty work, especially post warranty work, the relation between manufacturer and dealer plays a big part.
Does the manufacturer fight all warranty coverage?
Does the dealer fight warranty work because of lack of payment from manufactures?
Does the dealer lose trust because they don't keep the warrantied parts (or other warranty documentation)?
Does either of them care if their product keeps running?
Are the personnel just lazy?

There are better dealers, manufacturers, employees, sometimes.

"sleeves" ... what we call 'keepers'(?) .. the little 'split sleeves' that lock valves into spring 'retainers'.

These are sometimes made of sintered metal. To have one fail/crumble and let go would drop a valve instantly.

Damage within a cylinder can carry over to an adjacent one and confuse which failed first.
