Upgrade from GC2300?

Yes, dimensionally about the same, except for ground clearance. Also 300 lbs heavier is significant in this weight range (>20% heavier). Compare implement specs. Don't know the GC2300 specs, but the TYM loader lift height is quite impressive, as are its other implement specifications. Not withstanding weight, the T273 is on-par with the CK20 performance wise, but is more than a foot shorter and has a little bit more PTO hp. Thus, its a "better" mower. You have to see it and drive it to appreciate how well designed it is: very impressive manueverability. But, I think they are priced a bit too high (comparatively); the CK20 is a better value.

I drove 3 hours to test drive one. I'm glad I did, even though I didn't buy one - wasn't quite big enough for what I was looking to do. But for general purpose, do-all, landscaping - not sure there is a better machine in this size.

When I finish all my big jobs, I might look to downsize to one of these and replace both my tractors. But, then again, I love both my Kioti and my JD. So, maybe not.

If only there were more dealers and the price would drop a few bucks...I think they'd sell like hotcakes.

Coarterez- I agree with the lack of dealers and price being two major drawbacks. I think the 273 is just about perfect for my needs but I don't want to drive 2-3 hours for dealer service both ways. Also, when calling around to about 5 dealers, they don't seem to have any on the lot and one dealer had only sold 3 TYMs since the spring so I don't know about reliability. Very limited dealer support. They are a bit pricey, too: $15,850 for the T273HST with FEL and Industrial tires. I could get a CK30 for that money (but a much larger chassis too)

You are using it commercially. So, service and dealer location will be important to you. Otherwise, I think it's less of a problem (my JD has been to the shop once in 12 years).

The CK25/30's are awefully heavy for general landscaping on manicured lawns. The CK20 is the next best thing then.

The TYM might still be the right trick. Once the warranty runs out, you can probably get it serviced locally by an independent.

Or some of the lighter botas might be a better fit.

BTW, I was quoted $21,500 for TLB, loaded tires, and tooth bar on the T273. I ended up with a CK25 gear TLB, loaded tires, tooth bar, phd, and grader blade for $20,300. To me, the relatively high price makes it hard for the dealers to sell them. So, they just aren't stocking them.

The T273's are distributed out of Harrisburg, PA. That is where I test drove one. As for reliability, TYM has been around a while and the K2's seem to be well designed and fabricated. I think dealers are just finding it easier to push other manufacturers machines.

I spoke with a very knowledgable-sounding rep from TYM and they said that if it is more than a certain distance to a dealer, they will let me go to a local certified mechanic at a dealership other than TYM and have warranty work done there for a flat-rate payment system.

I read that TYM has been around a long time and these K2s are quality machines...just a bit pricey with ?questionable resale?. 0% financing helps too along with the 5 year warranty.

I think I will also look at the NH TC26 more closely as it is in between a SCUT and a CK25 sized machine.

Why not look at a John Deere 2520 or 2320? The 2520 lines up quite well size, weight and power wise to the Tym t273 and blows it away in hydraulic flow. I doubt if the John Deere cost more either. And the dealer network is second to none.

The JD 2320 (which I own) is also in this class and has all the items like position control and increased ground clearance over the gc2300.

Tym's might be good tractors and all, but I do not know of anyone that has one.

Just a thought.
