Upgrade seat in L or MX?

Jeff, when I was buying my L5460 a couple of years ago I asked the sales manager about the air ride upgrade from the standard suspension seat. He said the $895 upgrade was a swap of the base only. You might want to double check that.
My air ride seat came with armrests. I've seen numerous pictures of 60 series Grand Ls without armrests. My assumption is they are part of the air ride seat upgrade. If so, the upper seat is new as well.

K&M Seating for all your seating needs. I had my wife make a slipcover for my Grammer out of a bath towel. The tractor is a 2004 M9 and the seat has no wear. I also replaced the expensive seat in my open station M9 expensive Kubota vinyl with a wacky suspension adjustment with a Cordura covered seat from Rural King and a K&M suspension, not air rid, but spring ride but greasable and the KMM suspension allows much more seat travel than the OEM did.

Kubota is way too proud of their seats IMO.

I got the air ride with my new L4060hstc a few years ago. Can't compare it to the stock seat I never had, but I like it. As others have said the OEM air ride is a Granmar.

You do loose the ability to flip the seat up & run the PTO. I could do that on my old L3200. Now I have to put a couple rocks in the seat for it to not turn off when I get out spinning the PTO generator. I could bypass that sensor or put in a switch, but haven't had the time or motivation for as little as I use the PTO generator.
Interesting. Both my M9's run PTO engaged out of the seat. They both alarm for about 10 seconds and then keep right on running, which is necessary when I run my grain leg.

My L3200 would die in a few seconds if you had the PTO on & got out of the seat. But if you flipped the seat up, it would keep chugging. I assume the L4060 was the same. But I got the air ride seat upgrade & you can't flip that up. Tested the PTO generator finally last week. Died as soon as I got out of the seat. Had to put the rocks in.

Asked the dealer about it a while back & he said that was a limitation of the air ride. May or may not have suggested the rocks, I don't remember. It sucks, but for as little I use the PTO while dismounted (1 session, maybe 30 minutes of generator testing) on a 500 hour machine I'm not going to wory about it. I could put in a nicely wired bypass switch in an hour or 2 with parts on hand. And it's not worth my effort vs 3 minutes of moving 2 30 lbs rocks.

My standard vinyl suspension (springs) seat came with arms that flip up, it reclines, swivels a little, and tips forward. It’s an 2018 L5460 open station model. Works well with my 200 lbs.
I cautioned because I’m not sure my sales guy knew his facts. He asked me what fluids were required at a 50 hour service  ? I doubt they sell many Grand L’s here.

I am not unhappy with the stock seat in my MX5400. It's a nice tradeoff of comfort and ability to feel what the tractor is traversing on my awful hilly rock and depression pocked field (so that I proceed carefully). I did seek an upgraded seat on my zero turn mower though.

On the tractor, if I had a seat wish, it might be something that more easily enabled me to look at what I was doing behind the tractor.

I had the standard seat in a 2016 l6060 that I put 2200 hours on and now have the grammar seat in a 2020 l6060 with 360 hours. Truth is, i dont really notice an improvement with the air seat. The springs in the standard seat got very squeaky over time but thats the only complaint i had. I use a vented seat cover in both so the cloth vs vinyl doesnt matter to me. I have yet to figure out how to bypass the seat switch in the air seat. the standard was as simple as running a little jumper across the plug. Anyway, next tractor is just going to have a standard seat because in my opinion the upgrade isnt worth the cost and thats coming from someone who isnt even paying for it.

I installed a Grammer MSG75 air ride with swivel base in my L5740.. The swivel does help when using a rear blade or blower but it added considerable height to the base assembly. Installed a bypass switch for running PTO woodchipper. Overall I'd skip the swivel unless you are 6ft. or taller. I ended up extending my HST pedal, after that raised the entire floor mat by an inch.
