I would want the ROPS, as well as the ROPS mounting points on the rear axle/diff checked very closely.

The sight of a tractor upside down like that tears at my heartstrings.

I wonder if the guy was wearing his seatbelt and if not how he got away. I have to admit, I almost never wear one on a tractor unless I think the situation "clearly" potentially dangerous..

I seem to remember something about ROPS being replaced for free by the manufacturer. I'd ask about it if it were me.

While I agree with taking a close look at your ROPs for damage, I sure wouldn't take it to a lab. Look for deformation, pull the attachment bolts, folding pins, etc. If you can remove and reinstall, you should be good. Since the ROPS are steel, you will see some yielding if there is any real damage. But I also agree with talking to your dealer about a free replacement... that can't hurt.

All that said, if the operator rolls it again, I would question his intellect. . Hopefully a lesson was learned! I wish we could do polls here. How many have rolled their tractor... once? twice? more??? I'm hoping the numbers are less than 0.01%.

Is it adequate to simply continue using the tractor or does one need to have the ROPS checked or possibly replaced, once it has been subjected to this kind of force?

I have seen that many folks attach steel baskets to their ROPS and some carry chainsaws attached to them. I have an uneasy feeling about the damage these additions might do the driver in the event of a roll-over.

Am I being a bit paranoid?

It is a 3005 next generation 790 I believe. The tree stopped the complete roll luckily. . My tractor is a 790 so giving that they weighed the same I opted for my truck as the anchor point along with a few good trees/ a 10,000 pound snatch block / good line from Westech.

just watched a video on Messicks about modding the ROPS.
Said a new one is relatively cheap but the freight is not.
But once its been stressed like that not sure if one would risk keeping it.
Maybe lean it by a fire pit and tell tall tales with a few cold beers. :drink:

Nice thing about the 790/3005 ROPS is the bolt-together construction, the 'hoop' is 3pc. Shipping will likely be much more reasonable than a solid full hoop type ROPS.

no damage that I am aware of and yes jumped to the high side before it went over. Very dangerous but yes he is OK. My son videoed he and I getting it out of there but the file is too big to email and some of the language is sailorish. ( no offense meant to any USN members )
