Builder it never mentioned whether it could be always on or not. It just said to wire it into the backup lights. I had given some thought about wiring it to be always on but have not made my mind up yet. I am leaning though towards just using it for a backup camera. I could point out that if you buy the $14.23 3 year warranty it could probably be always on for three years at least. I looked at the one from walmart which is probably the same one
you bought. I actually had it in my shopping cart headed for the checkout stand. I thought about it and decided I would not be happy with that small a monitor so I put it back and did not buy it. One of the things the mounting instructions mentioned was that you could put the transmitter in the trunk of your vehicle. I dont know whether that means that it is not watterproof or not. I am going to put it in a ziplock baggie and then tape that shut and tie wrap it up near the bumper I think. I have a 7 plug jack for my trailer I am just going to wire it into that jack. It has a wire for the backup lights on it. I hope they have it at your sams. I looked online at sams club and did not see it there yet.

Gemeni, I would like to hit my local Sams to see if they have the camera you found in stock. The small one from WalMart I currently have comes on with the backup lights.

I'd like to put cameras in both my trucks and my Challenger tractor.

Did you notice if the camera you have could be "constantly on" since my Challenger has no real backup lights? I wanted to be able to use my camera monitor all the time, not just in reverse to monitor whatever equipment was on my 3pt without turning around all the time.

I guess it could be wired into a wire that's "hot" when the tractor is running?

Don't you still have the F-350?

Sold it ~2 years ago.

Gemini,

My Sams club did have the cameras. I just wired one up in my 3500 and the screen is a big improvement over the Walmart camera. It's almost too big. :)

LOL

I like too big better than too little. How do you like the resolution. I was amazed at how well i could see the hitch and the ball alignment with it. I am glad you found it.

I like mine a lot! I think I'm really gonna like the one I put in my dumptruck.

One thing I dislike is it seems like the camera signal gets interrupted more than I like. Does your's go in & out of reception, too?

Maybe I need to move the transmitter?

NO mine worked great but I have it in the bed of the pickup so not sure how far your transmitter is from the reciever. I am thinking about a different way to power the camera other than the backup lights. I would like to have it come on with them but might have it come on with lights also. I know this might be stupid to ask but if you have it come on with your backup lights does it go off when you shift out of reverse. I used mine to backup to a trailer then put it in park to go hook up the trailer. I was amazed when the camera picture went off then thought DUH it is hooked up to the backup lights.

I have my transmitter box all the way back near the rear bumper inside one of my utility body boxes. I wondered if the boxes make the transmitter less effective.

Once I get the other one installed in my dumptruck, I'll know if placing the transmitter in a tool box versus out in the open makes a difference.

I'd like mine to come on with a switch so I can have it on when I want it on.
