Hi Muhammad,

Just a note.. I've found that if one uses double-quotes to denote inches, for exampe "66" front blade," in the tractor attachments field of the profile, when you later go back in to edit your profile you will find that this field has been truncated at the first double-quote.

I began mine with "JD 66" front blade, JD 272 rear finish mower," etc. When I went back to edit it, all that was in the tractor attachments field was "JD 66".

I don't know if this is a bug, or if it's WAP (working as programmed), but thought you might like to know.

Thanks for the wonderful resource you provide.. and I loved your book!!

Best,
Bob

I found this was a problem form one of our fellow posters. I changed 72" to 6' And 78" to 6½'.

Double Quotes -- Is there such a thing?

There are apostrophes ' and quotation marks (quotes) ", but what exactly is a double quote?

I would suggest just typing out the entire word (e.g. 66 inch front blade), for apparently the form is ending the string when it finds the first quotation mark.

I think the apostrophe is refered to as a single quotation mark also.. and is used to quote text which occurs within another quotation. I suspect the old typewriter keyboards had a left and right version of both. Certainly typesetters do it in books. The apostrophe is straight up and down, while the single quotes are curved. Or am I all wet? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yeah, it's easy to work around.. I just thought maybe it was something they might not have bumped into yet.

Hmmm, I think there are

double quotes: "
single quotes: '
and
apostrophes: `

or is that last one an accent?

at any rate, has anybody tried escaping the quote like this?

\"

in Unix-ville (or Linux-land, or program-burg), you usually escape special characters to suppress their "special meaning"...
