Used Ford/NH 2120

I found a 2003 model 2120 Ford New Holland yesterday, talked to teh salesman today who I have known for quite a while and have dealt with him quite a bit with a guy I work for who farms 2000 acres.
Anyway the Tractor is a 2120 4wd with a loader, it's a 2003 model with 650 hours and they are asking $18,500 for it.

Though I do say Ford tractors are hard to beat I have never cared for them to much and have never looked at them too often. Does that price sound ok on it?

I don't know what the HP and specs are for it but it sounds like it may be too high.

Can you post the specs for it? Hp, weight, loader cap, etc?

Hp is about 45 engine 38 pto
Weight is about 4500 lbs.

Loader cap?????

What I liked about it is it has Ags on it and not R4's, the rear wheel width is adjustable, and it has rear wheel weights on each wheel.
I would call it a small ag series tractor or large compact series tractor.

cap for capacity... sorry if that was confusing! I would guess it's about 2000 pounds - does that seem about right? Would have 2 1/2 " cylinders and probably 5/8 - 3/4 yard bucket.

I also checked tractordata.com. They list the 2120 as ending production in 2000. Is it a 2003 or an earlier year, or a different model?

The year and hours don't bother me much, getting the model right would be important so you know what you are getting!

If it is a 2120, it's probably an ok deal. Not great, but not bad. Then again, it's from a dealer and they have to eat too. A good dealer is probably worth it.

They are a Case/IH dealer and I ask him if it cross references to any CIH model and he said he didn't think so. It has shuttle shift not gear which in my opinion is the cats meow to me!

I knew loader cap meant loader capacity I just didn't know what the capacity is, I figured it at prolly near 2000 lbs as well, I know it will do what I want to do for now and the next few years at least.

As for the model year Steve said it was a 2003, I've known him quite a while and whie I've seen him be wrong before it ain't often. Like I said earlier, tractordata.com is wrong most of the time but it gives you a ballpark estimate of what you're looking at.

I have a 1994 2120 4x4 ,7309 loader , lift cap is around 1700 lbs at full lift height . hp is 34.5 at pto.

I seriuosly doubt if it's a 2003 model.

According to my Primedia Used Tractor Guide, the 2120 was last manufactured in 2002, it likely was sold by the dealer in 2003. My book is the 2004 edition, and without loader, in excellent condition, it listed average value at $18,440. Probably need to knock off $1500 or so for the 2 year difference in book's value. So figure $16500-17000 for the tractor, then factor the loader in, $18500 may not be bad. New list for the tractor in 2002 was $22227 according to the guide.

I bought a 1994 2120 EHSS with 7109 loader w/HD bucket, soft-side Curtis cab, a Norse winch, a 8' Fisher pa plow, qa HD forks, 4 sets of tire chains last year for $14K and thought I gave a fair price. 1100 hours and carefully maintained. In 100 hours I haven't had a bit of buyers remorse, which I'm prone to. I think the thing listed in the low 22,000s in 1994 also, could be wrong.
Though the seating position is rather high, and the loader arms block your vision for the forks/bucket, it's a very easy to like machine. The shuttle is terrific.

The Case IH DX48/55's & NH TC48/55's are newer versions of the 2120. With more HP & Improved Front End Loader being the major differences. Real clean 2120's w/ low hours usually sell right in the 18,500.00 range. The new 48/55 models are roughly 25 G's and Up. Good Luck
