Buying Advice Used JD 110 vs everything else

I was just looking at a couple pictures online of the 110 cabbed ... It looks like there might be issues with detaching the backhoe and using the 3pt.. Looks awful tight back there, and in a couple pics it looked like the cab was bolted to the backhoe frame

Yes it looks like the cab is bolted to the backhoe frame attachment

The mini excavator buckets cross over with the 110 buckets. Can't remember which model excavator but it is about a 4 ton size, maybe a 27?

My hydraulic thumb setup - is part #'s for a JD 27 mini-x. Have also seen references here on TBN that the hoe buckets for a JD 35 mini-x will work as well.

Very likely that many of the mini-x attachments can be used on both 27-35 machines.

Just remembered a "pto intensive" job that I have done with the 110: cutting hay! Forgot that I had a Kuhn DMG400 disc mower. 4-spindle, 5'1/2" cut. Mowed hay with it for at least 3 years. IIRC, Kuhn recommends 35Hp for the mower.

The 110 did just fine with it and I cut alot of fields that were 3' Timothy!

The buckets are interchangeable between the 110,27,35. The 17 an 50 are the oddball coupler's.

Thanks! Thats a releif since the buckets are expensive and the tractor itself is hard to find. Hopefully the buckets are easy to find since several machines use them.,

Regarding post #40:
On the JD110, it's pretty stout, but I've seen enough busted bell housings to think most of the digging should be done with the backhoe, with the loader relegated to loading and relatively light digging work. I've never seen anyone bust a bell housing, I've just seen the results. It makes me wonder if they were truly abusing the unit or if more likely the bolts worked loose over time allowing dynamic loads on the bolts. I guess I am saying that a good operator that maintains his JD110 well and isn't stupid may be able to do more digging with the front bucket than I suspect.

Thanks Dave. I have looked at 3 110's for sale and saw one from a rental yard with a weld repair, one with an crack the owner was unaware of and one worked hard with 2800 hrs which was fine. The 2 broken ones had 1000 hrs. The rental one had tipped over recently, perhaps a factor. What do you think cracks the housings? Torque loads, racking loads or loader impact loads. If I can find a low hour unit without a crack I would like to know how to keep it that way! Regards,
