Pretty wheels, been washed, should work!
lol

In general cosmetic blemishes don't bother me, nor does 'polish & shine' impress me. But sometimes [I think] there are indications that a vehicle has been worked hard or handled gently. The one I looked at last night was a work horse; I saw it in action. The other (orange) one, from talking with the guy on the phone, I don't believe it's seen much mud for the four years he's owned it. Sounds like it's been an urban mantenance vehicle...but granted, I don't know that for sure.

I plan to look at the orange one tomorrow, and if it passes muster, it's coming home with me.

when inspecting, check oil levels, engine and hydraulic, and look at outer air filter...you will discover if owner knows where these are and how to do... and it's more realistic than just "kicking the tires"

'Good luck!

I wondered how much I'd use a hydraulic dump anyway?

Most utility vehicle owners find their beds fill with tools pretty quickly and that transport loads are pulled in a trailer.

If you are going to move heavy loads you want the load low for stability, not high in the bed.

MUTS - Multi-Use Trailer System for your ATV, Quad and 4 Wheeler - Welcome

HD 1500 TA - Trailers - Polar Trailer

You can special order a Polar trailer from Home Depot.

The MUTS trailers are the class act in all-terrain trailers. The mast & winch dump feature is worth a lot.

agreed, it depends on your use and other equipment available. I have never used the hydraulic dump feature. It is handy to lift the bed to get at the engine, occasionally. I do have a manual dump trailer which holds no more than 3 FEL buckets of material. I've used that a couple of times for transporting material a long way, leaving the tractor at the material pile. The rest of the time, the trailer holds all my fencing supplies and tools

The only issue with the hydaulic dump bed, is if you have a trailer hitch attached, and back into stuff, and dump, well I have crushed three tailgates. LOL.

I did one, some other people did the other two.

There is a post on TBN about this unfortunate event. I ended up taking the bed off, just to rebend the bottom. LOL.

It has a slight curve, now, currently, from the last crushing move.

Hydraulics are un-forgiving. :) But if you can swing it, I'd go with them!

So, Rip, does your hydraulic lever now sport a custom made warning message to remove the trailer hitch??

That is not a bad idea! Them trailer bed parts are expensive. And the decals are separate costs. :(

It followed me home. :)

The guy that owned this is a diesel mechanic. If he didn't have $100,000 of tools in his shop, he didn't have any. Snap-on wrenches with cutout drawer inserts. This guy is meticulous. And not one, but two Indian motorcycles, and a Harley! The ultimate Man Cave. lol

I identified a couple flaws in the vehicle, nothing I deemed abnormal, being 7 years old. One is the front of the floorboard is rusting through, it appears to me that the whole sheet of metal is thin (design flaw?). A plate welding project. The other "issue" was the rear end differential lock lever (located on the floor in front of the driver) - the linkage seems to be frozen and won't budge. The guy said he'd never used it. At the transmission end of the cable, the locking lever that engages moves freely, so I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of freeing the foot lever to operate it. (My terminology may be off here, new to the world of ATV/UTV.)

All in all, I'm confident this thing was well cared for the four years it's been in this guy's possession.

Thanks for all the replies here.

Congratulations! Looks like a good find.

Congrats! Not sure about the rust? Perhaps with the top the water ran a little different? Mine doesn't have one and has been semi-out its whole life. Just paint peels and minor bubbles. On the differential, yeah, maybe used mine twice in all the years. Once was probably to see what it actually did.

Looks like a great find. Enjoy and keep us posted on your RTV.

Awesome! You will love it. Last year, when we bought our used RTV1140, there was some surface rust on the front brush guard and on the bed. I considered sandblasting and painting it, but we instead decided to sandblast, prime and coat with LineX. If you replace the floor, consider LineX or some other tough coating for long term durable protection. After/before:

good find, good looking. Let us know how you free up the differential lock....I think mine is frozen, too, but haven't worried about it.
