Used PT's

Re: Used PT\'s

I checked my PT yesterday and could not feel any slack in this nut. I am going to buy a 1 13/16" wrench today, to see if I can tighten this nut at all.
Do I need a backup wrench? or is the bolt welded to the frame ?, or is it a carriage bolt? or ...what ??.
I only have one strong hand, I had surgery on the other hand and it is still too tender to use for heavy duty anything.
If I need to buy 2 wrenches I will. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
I just can't remember what the bottom of that bolt is like. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: Used PT\'s

Was planning to secure the rubber somehow to the opening, but for now they are held in place on their own. I have about 20 or so hours on the PT with them in and no problem yet.

Re: Used PT\'s

That should do the trick then, good to know it's staying in place by its self. I also keep my PT in the garage. If I remember correctly I read on here where someone's PT caught on fire just sitting there when something shorted out.

Guess my next move should be a battery cut off switch. I would hate to burn my house down. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Re: Used PT\'s

I was looking at it and I believe all you need is one wrench to tighten the nut. The underside has the grease zerk and I think it is fixed in position, somehow.

MR, did you happen to confirm that our older 425s also use the 1-13/16" size?

Re: Used PT\'s

Maybe you can slip a piece of pipe over the wrench like a breaker bar setup, to help tighten with one hand?
