Don't know. I've only used mine once and it popped back up by itself if I remember right. The manual kind of suggests doing some kind of dance with clutch and brake. Are your split brakes joined? There is a little pin above them that bind the two pedals together.

I'm going to try that tomorrow. This is a 2011 with only 35 hours on it so it has done a lot of sitting around. I'm going to spray whatever linkage I can find with PB Blaster before I try.

Mine will pop back up with light spring pressure as soon as the load comes off it or my right heel . the small t handle on the left side is up for 2 wheel drive , down for 4 wheel drive. I find it easiest to raise the front tires off the ground with the fel to switch back to 2 wheel drive.
Hope this helps some.

It's not even properly broke in yet!

I didn't get a manual with this tractor can anyone tell me how to tell what position the differential lock is in?

You should be able to get a copies of the owners, loader, and BH manuals direct from LS. Send an email
explaining your recent purchase. Service manual would have to be ordered thru your dealer. Below is the link to the parts manual.

LS Tractor R Series

It's possible the lock / diff pedal is stuck down. The PB is a good way to start. You can try unlocking the brake pedals and driving while alternating brake pedals or jack up the rear wheels to relieve pressure and try pulling the lock pedal up.

Thanks George, I'm going to try all those things this morning.

I sprayed the linkage with PB Blaster and worked it by hand and it released. What a relief!

Did that fix the maneuverability issues? Congrats again!

Edit: May want to remove those rubber pads from the BH stabilizers unless working on paved/finished surfaces. When doing dirt work can start to twist/rip off. Also, easier to unbolt while clean.

Yes it did...Thanks to all who answered. The PO must have pushed it down and I didn't notice it when loading up. After getting it home and having trouble maneuvering in my yard once off the trailer I started thinking it was more than the weight of the Backhoe. As soon as the diff lock released it was night and day...no problems turning.

I did try and dig out one small stump, man am I rusty with the backhoe! I kept looking for foot pedals to swing the boom! I am also re-learning the shuttle shift. Practice makes perfect right?
