Re:beenthere

Mark, I think it may be the first time I've even heard "keep the greasy side down"; I've just always heard "keep the shiny side up."/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re:beenthere

I worked for years in the truck repair industry. We always said that to the drivers. If you ever looked at a detroit disel bottom side you would sure know which was shiney and which was greasey. We always said if it wasn't leaking oil it was out of oil. JIM

Re:beenthere

Bird,

You must be one of those "glass is half-full" kind of guys /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

TresCrows,

Your "dryly amusing" post forced a guffaw out of me at work - I've drawn some strange looks.

I've heard that! I never knew it had anything to do with that. Of course, since there's been so few times I've ever driven anything that had a shiny side, I've got an excuse. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re:beenthere

Along the same thread, one that I've heard (and used) is to "keep the rollers on the bottom".

Seems they all have the same general intent: there is a proper operating attitude for most equipment, be it tractors, cars, trucks, airplanes, etc... As for greasy side down, some are greasier than others. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Unless it's British. We all know that electronic equipment operates on smoke. I've noticed that British electronics needs a lot more smoke than electronics from other places /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif....

Now I'm getting out of here before the stuff starts flying. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Or "Keep the rubber on the road."

I believe that's one alias. Another was "Lucas Flash and Flicker". /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Re:beenthere

<font color=blue>Of course you all have to know what I am going to say. Here on the lake, we keep the wet side down. Most of that is old worn out CB radio lingo stolen from the truckers in the late sixties and early seventies when they (CB's) were the rage. Still all sounds kind of kkkkorney. As far as the politically correct lingo, I don't believe in it. But if a woman can out-think and out-work a man, she deserves the recognition and the pay. Worked with plenty of either sex that have been useless, so no general rules apply. Just that some jobs are more suited to a particular gender. Won't embellish beyond that one.
