Even with the 4-wheel type, you can get the rear wheels off the ground, extend the check chains and put weight on the 3 ph if you go over a swale.

Like the song says, don't ask me how I know.

Does yours have the chains like mine? they give it lots of motion. Currently when I lift it the rear wheels are only a few inches off the ground, the fronts are much higher. So the top link is extended I guess. This would help some. I haven't messed with my Woods much except to heat and straighten out a few parts. It and the BH came with my tractor.

I am looking at a good condition used Woods 60" 3-point mount finish mower to use on a 2305. Will the front of the tractor need weights when I pick up the mower? Or are loaded tires sufficient.

Any experience with this?

Hi Bill,

I'm probably close to the limit of the 2305, but I have a 72" Buhler/Farm King RFM (listed as 618 lbs) that I run with mine. Our property is completely flat and I mow with the loader frame on, but the bucket off. If I lift the mower without the bucket the front is a little light.

Is that armorall on the tires? ;)
you bet it works real great because the dirt or grass does not stick very will to the tires. And keeps tire rubber form cracking.

Mine is a 660, and it does have chains like yours, but since it is a gear over belt drive, the rear attachment point is on the deck rails. I don't think my chains have anywhere near the slack that yours appear to have, and my top link is extended nearly to the limit.

I use a 72" Buhler Farm King on my JD4600 and have no problem with the weight - in fact, I purposely do not use my loader on the front as the extra overall weight causes me to slide on the hills in my yard. Having the loader on the front also makes it harder for me to cut around my fences, trees, etc. - so I'm happy to have it off.

But the Farm King is pretty light... in comparison to my MX6. That moose :)D ) definately needs the counter-weight provided by my loader. So make sure you balance your weighting accordingly.... I know Mike runs his MX6 on a 4310 and that's not rated for the MX6 due to weight. But I believe he gets through because he keeps his loader on his 4310 also.

Good luck in your efforts!

Actually Armorall dries out the rubber and draws dust. But it's great if you are getting ready for a tractor show or something!!! ;)

I have a woods RD 60" RFM with my MF 1523. I wouldn't think my front end was much heavier than yours, and do not have to use weights in the front. If I was on a hill with the mower in the raised position, and quickly dropped the clutch, yea, the front end would lift-up. Otherwise, under normal use, the 2305 should be just fine.
