Using a vacuum while removing the transmission strainer method for my BX25

For those that use the vacuum cleaner while removing the transmission strainer on a BX. Do you hook the vacuum hose tightly to the dipstick hole? If so do you have any problem sucking up fluid into the vacuum? Or do you have to purposely leave a little break or leak in the connection to avoid that?

Have done this on my L several times, with nothing special and no problems. Unless the vacuum hose is down in the fluid, i don't think it can suck the fluid up the walls of the case and into the hose...

Thanks for the response....... so did you hook the vacuum hose tightly to the opening or just hold in there leaving a vacuum break?

If you use a 5hp Shop Vac, it will definitely suck fluid in. I've done it! You need something weaker, and the hose needs to be tight on the hole.

I found a hose that fit tight in the fill port. It worked great. Very little fluid loss and nothing got sucked into the vacuum. And it is a good, powerful shop vac. Maybe different on the small tractors as you might be closer to the fluid level. That I cannot say... but if you try it with some clear tubing, you should know instantly if you have an issue. If so, then you can make a trap from a pop bottle or something

LOL...I agree!! Spend all that money on a new tractor then cheap out on a pail of oil, LOL.

I used a 5HP Shop vac on mine without any fluid being pulled into the vacuum. The end of the hose fit perfect into the rear hydro fill hole.If you leave a break, you wont create a suction which defeats the purpose. Maybe lost a pint of Hydro fluid in the process and it was clean and clear at 50 hrs. Next interval I will change out the oil completely.

It depends on what service interval one is at. Some only recommend filter change whereas some recommend filter and fluid change.

Me, I change the fluid only when the service interval calls for it. Otherwise I just change the filter. Kubota SUDT ain't cheap. Kubota designed it, built it, tested it etc so I figure they know better than me.
