Using backhoe as grapple ...

I thought of going with a thumb, and my tractor is actually set up for one (no welding!), but Mahindra values it dearly (over a grand!) At that point, I'm halfway to an EA grapple.

You can buy an aftermarket manual/mechanical thumb for under $500.

Yeah, but then I'd have to weld the brackets. Mine has them ... for a Mahindra (TYM, most likely) thumb.

There are several bolt on type units available also.

My stick is too thick, it appears. If I get an EA grapple, I don't know if I'll bother with a thumb.

My backhoe thumb got used quite a bit. I liked it better than my grapple for cutting firewood.
