I saw this thread and was curious by the title. I tried to figure out what it was about by running my mouse over the title to get the first little bit as a "preview". But I couldn't figure out what it was REALLY about by reading the first little bit. So I dove in. I am glad I did. That was such a heartwarming story. I am sorry for your loss. That really tears at the heartstrings. And I don't even have a dog!! It's almost like that lady's dog at the vet KNEW what was going on! My condolences!

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I know how tough that is.

I have my own pet cementery here. I wish I would never have to dig another hole, But, with six cats and seven dogs, I know I will, and I dread that day.

Thank you folks,
It has been 3 days now. Doing much better, her little brother is still here to comfort our family.
Some might say, "It's just a freakin dog" >> if so, that animal and many others like her have cleaner souls than most people. What does that make most people?

Haven't touch the backhoe since, don't even want to look at it. It sits there curled up as if it was some evil tool waiting patiently like a vulture sitting on a tree.

Tomorrow will be a better day.
Thank you folks.

Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly, sometimes so suddenly it wrenches your heart out of your throat.

Still the love is always there, even when we must take that long sleep, to run free in a distant land.

So sorry for your loss.

Madslick, so sorry to hear of your loss:(

I've known 2 German Shepperd's during their short time here with us and they are truly amazing dogs. They can be so genital then at the blink of an eye become the most fierce defenders if they feel their loved ones are in any sort of danger.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family.

We saw "where the Red fern Grows" and it was a good one.

There's a movie coming out soon named Marley. We listened to it on books on tape last time we had a long family trip. Keep you eyes out for it, it'll grab your heart too.

Sorry about your loss.

Here's a classic:

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
