USPS, their package delivery in rural areas isn't the best and non-existent in some areas !

I have to drive over a mile to get to my mail box... S****, but I live with it, but when I have a priority mail package, I expect it to be delivered to my house, NOT... I get a card and I have to drive 30 minutes to get to the closest mail box.

The last time I had a two day delivery package sent from New England to SoCal, fresh Haddock mind you, it arrived on a Friday, we were a little late getting to the mail box, even tough we were watching, and got a card that said Pickup at Post Office. OK went to the PO and can't get it tonight, went the next morning, a Sat., and was told we would have to wait until Monday to process the package because we aren't open today. Wait a minute, the package was a Second Day Delivery, that means it should have been in my hands yesterday, WHY do I have to wait.

Didn't get anywhere with that approach, so I told them, do you know what spoiled fish smells like, of course they said no, so I told them the package contained fresh Haddock from New England and by Monoday morning the package will be thawed out and starting to rot... I can't get back here until around noon so the whole PO will smell like rotting fish.

The ONE person on duty, decided it was better to find the package than stink out the PO so he found the package and gave it to us... WHAT A BIT OF BS I HAVE EVER HEARD !

So, I got a Brush Guard for my front Bumper, made by the same person that made the front and rear bumpers on my truck, came Saturday around noon, it was delivered to the front door, carefully leaned against the side of the door way and the driver rang the door bell. when I looked up he waved and left.
NOT THAT'S THE WAY TO DELIVER A PACKAGE ANDIT WASNT EVEN 2ND DAY DELIVERY !

UPS, I have found to be the best of all of the delivery services out there, the drivers deliver to the door, make sure you see them, and respond to you, not much more you can ask for, except they always deliver On-Time !
Gutta-Luv UPS !

No wonder USPS is losing business, their deliver system is one of the worse, there is an excuse when they don't deliver on time, the PO is always closed when people are getting off work... that's funny, and when they do open there is always a line. They started the "Priority Shipping Containers", small, medium, and large... this worked out well, but for some reason the USPS was not making enough money so they started increasing the cost of the containers, three times so far... what is going on, a GREAT idea and they blow it ! I didn't even mind driving to the PO !

As I said before, "No wonder they are going out of business".

Although, let me add, the Mail Personnel are very nice, they help as much as they can.

Ltr all !

You can fill out a USPS Form 4232, Rural Carrier Delivery Instructions, which tells your carrier what to do with parcels. Rural carriers are not required to go down driveways over 1/4 mile. The reason the USPS is losing money is because they are federally mandated to pay for retirees that haven't even been born yet to the tune of 5 1/2 billion dollars per year. This law was passed in 2007 when the USPS was viewed as a cash cow. If not for this, they would not have a loss. Just saying.

Couldn't agree more.

I live way back from the main road, so I have a long driveway. UPS not only drives up the driveway but also puts the box inside my enclosed porch out of the elements. The FedEx drivers all too often have dropped my packages on the ground at the start of my driveway, next to the main road...like they never heard of porch pirates. And yes, anything that delivers USPS I get a card in my mailbox and then have to drive to town to pick it up. Seems like the delivery is always on a Friday with a long holiday weekend coming up so I can't pick up the package until the next Monday or Tuesday.

Because of where I live I do most of my shopping on line; I make sure to specify UPS shipping. If the company will not ship UPS then I find a company that will!

If a crook was smart, they would just shadow delivery drivers for stuff left on the stoop.

Our drivers are great, but sometimes I have to look everywhere for where they might have left a package. Last time, it was in the last place I thought to look. In the Mail box! out at the road. Didn't think they could use that.

That actually is a big problem, especially this time of year. While I do agree that UPS is the quickest, I have had so many problems with them delivering to the wrong house that for a while I specified “Do Not deliver by UPS.” They would leave packages anyplace they wanted, often a mile or two away at an abandoned building. They finally figured it out. I do recognize that my road is bad in winter so during those months I have things delivered to a drop off point about 8 miles away, the problem is that it costs me $5.00 plus the drive, and is hard to keep them from using that point in summer.

We get all 3. UPS, Fedex and USPS.

All 3 will come up our driveway

UPS is the best by far. They will do anything possible to get a delivery here. Will call if there is a problem and work it out. We can call them direct as well.

USPS is good as well. but they have a mini van this year that may not work well in the snow.

Fedex is good but rotates new drivers all the time. One look at our driveway and they turn and run!

Our mailbox is up on the highway but if we get a package that won't fit our carrier brings it to our gate. It wasn't always like that. Some years back they left a questionnaire asking if we wanted them to do it.

I had a package delivered to my gate at 6:30 pm yesterday so they must be working overtime to get it done. That was an eBay purchase.

USPS has an agreement with Amazon to deliver 7 days a week. Those packages come in a mail jeep rather than by our normal carrier.

I haven't always been happy with USPS but the last couple of years have been good except when we have a substitute carrier.

There was a time when I had the Purolators driver's (Darlene) cell phone number. I could call her and tell her, my lane is not open, leave it at the hardware (local depot) store. Now I call a number and talk to someone a thousand miles away. So, who cares if the truck gets stuck in my lane? Not me anymore. Except, I do pull it out.
