Neighbor has an rtv1100. Fun machine for around our property here.
My first reaction after borrowing it was wow=LOUD inside. Having had a gator I liked the rear for carrying stuff (saws, shooting bags, wood etc) but I hardly utilized the 電ump feature.
I preferred to haul gravel/dirt/debris in my dump trailer (maybe I was 登verprotective.? Anyway, flipped the gator for a dozer and began to look. I didn稚 see the value (for me) in a 23k++w plow/options. Used were still overpriced.

Begin to analyze what I exactly wanted/ needed.

4wd
Easy to repair
Reliable
2 seats
Some weather protection in winter or rain but I do like nature, spring-fall and prefer no doors during that time
Plow
Some ability to haul stuff
Ability to tow

Bonus items:
Pto
3 point hitch
Dump
Roadworthy

In the end, 1963 cj5
Pto (run my sawmill)
plow
(it had a 3 pt hitch in past life, first owner used to post hole dig as fence contractor ) will add it in future
Soft top

Overall nearly same size as rtv1100 (bit more narrow and bit more ground clearance with the 32? so great on my swampy trails where we have a good deal of standing water (generally less than 18?
Same length, quiet, reasonable to fix/repair, road worthy is trade off for dump in the end. It may not be for everyone but for a few thousand, I am happy.

Not sure what the long Jeep thread above had to do with Kubota Utv sound. ....I have Kubota XC1100 RTV and now that I am plowing with it this winter ( so windows closed) I did find the cab a bit too noisy so I bought 20 bucks worth of Rubber backed exterior matting with the nylon grey carpet typical on it. I then made cardboard templates for any flat areas eg low on the steel doors and on the steel footrests on both sides I also saw that with box in up position there was a 10 inch by 50 inch part of exterior steel cab that I could contact cement some more of that carpet. So far I have applied roughly 10 sq ft and it seems to have reduced sound somewhat. Next I am going to figure out a way to do under the seats maybe under tooltray where I think a fair bit of sound of engine comes thru the engine access holes. But I need to figure a way to make my rubber backed type carpet removable here. I will let Original poster know how it works out. I love my cabbed Kubota Rtv ...just needs some custom fun work.

Would like to see pics of that work

Kman ...I took a pic with my phone and tried posting it here with the phone but I dont see any paper clip icon to use to attach it....so I will have to figure out a way to use a computer instead ( or see why my phone app does not show properly) give me a day or two.

You might consider 3M Thinsulate(TM) AU4002-5 which is an engineered noise absorbing material 1" thick. It will absorb noise energy better than a rubber mat. And a lot lighter too so easy to attach under the hood and other areas of engine compartment with 3M 90 Spray adhesive. Temperature rating is 280F. Honda, GM and other automotive OEMs use it.

Hein ...I am sure for applications where engine is under the hood( kubota is under the floor and box behind seat) an expensive 3m product you mention will work great. ..but although my architectural college days was 40 years ago ...acoustic principles remain the same. Even a simple curtain or area carpet in a hard surface room can noticeably help absorb sound waves . So for 30 bucks for rubber exterior carpet matting I can afford to try to help reduce while still looking good (especially on the doors) I will hopefully post a pic tommorow if I can figure out.

“Not sure what the long Jeep thread above had to do with Kubota Utv sound”

Simple, used the neighbor’s for a few months for various tasks. I chose a different route after experiencing the machine in all of it’s glory

Kman so you can see I put small push pins in areas I contact cemented the carpet mat for sound absorbing (so two places on the doors, both front floor wheel well curves, all along under back window outside cab and also under the barcode sticker on that same pic.)...?.I still have to figure out under the seat ...I suspect you know how awkward shaped that area is and I have my portable winch power cord also coming thru there.

Thanks for the pics look like it took alot of planning to come up with those ideas. My machine is totally different but I do get the idea. Thanks

I never thought the interior of my RTV1100 was overly noisy--Quiet, no but tolerable...Can hear the radio or talk with out much problem.
