Cardoc - interested in what you said...I thought the draft control had to have an implement like a tiller that put pressure on a spring to make the draft control work.

I have draft control but it does not seem to matter where I set it.

Scotty, Yes there has to be some sort of increased pull (push) on the top link (or whatever is the operating piece) and in my case because the sensing mechanism is the spring loaded top link bracket. On mine it also has 3 holes to varies the sensitivity.

Yours may well differ from mine the pics of yours from the manual are hard for me to grasp because I dont have anything close by to compare them to but it looks like it works the same. I dont know how to make it work properly the instructions are in my manual but they are very vague.

Mine uses a small lever which engages a friction clutch at the rock shaft pivot to lock the pivot into the draft control valve and therefore transmits input manually to the valve just like someone moving the lever by hand just automatically.

Well well well, I learn something new every day. I sure haven't seen that draft control set up before. Thanks for the pictures.

The 3pt should be in neutral with no attachment.

You can determine if the 3pt lever is in neutral by installing a 3000 psi hyd gage in the FEL IN port using a tee.

If all valves are in neutral, there should be no or very little pressure on the gage.

If using the FEL, the gage will show the pressure developed by the lift or curl cyl.

If you are only using the 3PT, then the gage will show the pressure required to operate the 3pt.

Normally, you don't use the 3pt and the FEL together, because they will interact with each other.

It could be back pressure from the 3pt that is causing the curl/lift to be weak.

Do you have PB feeding the 3pt or is the FEL OUT port providing downstream operation?

Well....it was 50 degrees here today and with the days getting a little longer - had about an hour of daylight when I got home. And....with a little luck on my side, my new 60 inch toothbar was sitting in the driveway just waiting for me.... A couple of holes drilled, some bolts and it was installed - then I adjusted the 3 pt hitch ...by this time it was really dark and needed to go inside, but I think the adjustment of the 3pt did the trick.

JJ - I would like to do what you suggested and get a T and a gauge and really see what the numbers say...but in the mean time I think Winstons advice on the adjustement was just what I needed!!!! Thanks all.

BTW - here is the thread I started with the tooth bar I bought:
