V417 Max Lift

Bobcat is very conservative with their specs, Rated Lift Capacity is 4400 lbs.

So I thought I would check my V417 using these crane scales chained to a tree stump.


Without the bucket and the boom fully extended, at 15 degrees, it took 3940 lbs to raise the back wheels off the ground.


I lowered and retracted the boom a little, the scale showed zero, then lifted again. I saw 5005 then it showed Over Flow.


There would be about 3200 lbs of dirt in this bucket!


Since I can't measure the maximum lift fully retracted, I will weigh the bucket and add known weights in the bucket, until I can open the lift relief valve with the scale hooked on.

I'm surprised there weren't any replies to this thread, I finally found it from a link you posted from another thread. I'm always impressed with the pics you post of that V417. I never knew about those until you started posting about it.

That is surely some impressive lift capacity, it's nice to be able to extend and retract the bucket like that.

How is the visibility compared to a tractor? It seems that it could be tough to see whats to the right of you with the boom in the way?

I would be very interested in one of those if they only had a PTO! Do you have enough hydraulic capacity to use a mulcher with that? That would be impressive!


I'd love to see some more action photos with the 7' rotary mower you have for it. Do you use that for heavy duty cutting?

It is rated at 22 gpm.

I try not to go over 2" brush, it is rated for bigger, but that puts a lot of stress on it. I will pull the bigger ones with this, just ordered, will get here next week.

The lift capacity is not based solely on the hydraulics. It is actually a stability value and is based on tests specified by ASME/SAE/ISO.

Yep, stability, that is why I didn't extend the boom when I took this picture that was in the first post. The ground was a little soft and not level.

The front axle does not pivot like a tractor, but the rear axle does. :thumbsup:
