Vacationing in Maine

From Portland you can catch a tour boat of Casco Bay, very picturesque. Then to Cape Elizabeth to Two Lights visit the Clam Shack and eat lobster right on the shore. Rock land has a ferry to Vinalhaven Island, good place to have lunch-- you can walk it so leave your car in Rockland. Bar Harbor is fun, get an aerial tour of the coast. You can also do the aerial tour from Sanford, exit 19 off I-95.

The earlier warning about moose is for real. Their eyes do not reflect so they are virtually invisible after dark, beware.

OK TNHobby farmer - how about an update?

My wife and thinking of a week trip across NH and Maine but not along the coast - been there, want to see something different.

moxie???? I just don't get it.. Maine is a beautiful place, anything you could want is there. Kennebunk is a fun touristy place with great food, if your looking more to relax the mountains are great too. Sunday River is always great year round. _enjoy the ride_

Moxie was as common as coke was in MA in the 80's, I kinda like it myself but I don't buy it very often.

I like Moxie with pizza and it taste best from the glass bottles but harder find that way. Moose will be a great site to see this time of year, better chance to see them in western Me. and I think moose season is coming up.

That is a nice trip. This fall or next year?

We were thinking 1st week November. We are not really into touristy things but do enjoy museums and seeing the countryside. The logging museum will be a must.

It will be getting fairly gray by then. FYI.

Are you saying gray is not a good color on Maine?

Great vacation. Maine is spectacular. Being it was our first time there, we did the touristy stuff. Spent 3 days in Bar Harbor, ate lots of lobster, worked our way back down the coast from Bar Harbor. Our favorite lobster shack was McLoons near Rockland. We didn't have a specific agenda, just drove around free lancing. I would definitely recommend it. If I go again, probably would go in early October to see the leaves but wouldn't want to go much later than that because of the cold. We were there the third week of August.
