Especially if you spend all kinds of money................

So if driving from Boston with limited vac. time, you'll probably want to head right to Augusta, that must be around a 4hr drive, then from there to Bah Habah, that's probably around another 5hr of driving, then if you're taking rte 3 east from Augusta (State capital) you'll be going by lake St. State Park, 4 mi. from me, blow your horn and I'll wave. Halfway to Bah Habah, there's the new one of kind Bucksport bridge that you have go over, I've heard it has an elevator to the top of one of the bridge pillars where there is suppose to be a great view, might want to check that out, also make sure you try a Moxie.

Moxie?

* If you are traveling the RT95 the Maine Forest and Logging Museum in Bradley is worth the time, Has a working water powered Mill. should you enjoy this type of thing. Maine Forest & Logging Museum You should call in ahead of time to see whats up. This place is a hidden gem, depending on perspective.

Second on the Maine Forest and logging museum, but I am partial since I volunteer and helped rebuild one of the very few working steam Lombard log haulers in the world, we are fully certified to run up to 150psi of steam. Here is a video of one of our latest runs, Lombard Steam Log Hauler November Run - YouTube we will have another run July 29th.

If Moxie had alcohol in it, my son would be drunk every weekend, and he say's it taste better in the glass bottle. Also if you buy him a bottle, he'll give you a free shingle mill demonstration.

Maine has a bunch to offer and what you get depends on what you enjoy and where you go. If your stops are places like Wells, Ogunquit, Freeport, Camden, and Bar Harbor you'll see the tourist side. Mainers tend to avoid those places like the plague once tourists arrive. The coast has over 3500 miles of shoreline, and the river systems/forest access were the population draws that brought people here. Most communities do not have dozens of restaurants, gift shops, movie theaters, and outlet stores.
Tidal range differs in the river systems and shoreline, from single digit ranges in York, to over twenty foot swings Downeast. Quoddy Head would put you to the Easternmost point and offers incredible views. The harbors in Cutler, Jonesport and Deer Isle/Stonington are real working waterfronts with a rainbow of commercial vessels decorating the harbors.
If you do end up in Freeport the LL Bean store is interesting, Bucks Naked BBQ is delicious, and the Maine Beer Company is knocking it out of the park there. My sister lives there, so I'll endure that.
Besides lobster, theres haddock, clams, halibut and scallops that will be fresh. Fish and clam chowder, lobster stew... Can't forget the strawberries, blueberries and apples. Probably ought to have a potato, or at least some humpty dumpty BBQ chips. Besides Moxie, we also have Allens Coffee Brandy, which is a regional thing.
Cadillac Mountain, Mount Katahdin... gem mining in western Maine... the Desert of Maine... the Downeaster railway... whitewater rafting the Penobscot, Dead or Kennebec rivers...
