Bird, I don't think you should wait for the 25% stuff /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. When all the bills come in for the Hydraulic Tip 'N Tilt - OK, Top 'N Tilt project /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif. You may need all the Valentine Day points you can get./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Hope your project is heading toward being complete soon.

Kevin, after nearly 36 years, I'm seriously considering keeping this wife permanently./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif And since she goes to the Russell Stover factory more than I do and knows about the prices, she'd fuss at me for wasting money if I bought candy before Valentine's Day. And she grows her own flowers and knows I don't buy any. However, she does love to go to town and eat out, and she doesn't even care about the fancy, high-priced places, so she's pretty easy to keep happy./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Ron, I going to try out some of that high priced sympathetic oil that Mark Chalkley and some others speak so highly of, and if it really does run quieter and cooler, maybe I am through with that project./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

When I read the bit "...buy a card and put a picture inside...", the first thing than ran through my mind was to put a picture of the tractor inside!

Me Thinks this is not as good a photo of a flower! LOL! I think I would be in deep doo doo if I did that!

YOUR idea is MUCH more superior than mine. I guess that is why my Wifey says I just STAY in trouble. I never leave......

Later...

Bird,

Years ago when I lived in South East Florida there was a candy shop owned by a retired tailor from Austria. His family had been making truffles and such for years and he used to make batches to give to his customers for the holidays. He retired and opened up this shop. The candy was the best chocolate I have ever had. Just awesome. You walked into his place and you immediately had a craving for milk! He always had lines out of the store during holidays.

Great Place. I hope it is still there.....

Congrats on 36 years togather. That is an accomplishment. I'm glad you think you might keep her!

Later....

Randy,
Valentine's Day is always a killer for me ... because 4 yeras ago (on V-Day) I took her to Hawaii and married her ... and that's kind of hard to top. But, I am lucky in that she does enjoy jewelry - not necessarily huge diamonds (although she wouldn't turn one down) - but something you wouldn't see everywhere and on everyone. I got lucky at Christmas and found her a nice pendant - horsehead outline with a little diamond for the eye ... and she liked that. And I was also lucky for V-Day/anniversary 'cause I happened on a nice little trinket in Houston last week. They called it "Time in a Bottle" (remember the song?) and it's a tiny gold and glass hourglass with diamond dust for the "sand". It's unusual enough that she'll love it.
Flowers are always welcome (although I tend to get them every couple of weeks to make up for the late suppers and hours on the computer.
Muhammad's idea's a pretty good one too ... women seem to like scents (especially 'cause they think we ain't got any ...).
But ... offhand, I'd say that whatever you decide to get will make points ... what women seem to really appreciate is being thought of ... my wife's favorite present was a $2 card I gave her many years ago when we were just friends! It was humorous and had just the right message and she reminds me of it periodically ... so I'd say that as long as YOU pick it out and give it to her ... it'll probably be "perfect"

too bad that common sense ain't

thanks for the idea, Muhammad ... the White Opium sounded good. One comment ... when I submitted the order, I got a blank screen so I'm not sure whether they're having a problem or not (or whether the order actually went through)
Anyway ... I'll bookmark the site and see what my wife thinks opf the fragrance (I won't tell he it was recommended by a tractor guy ... she'd give me one of her patented "Southern Belle" what-have-you-been-drinking looks

too bad that common sense ain't

I heard a little tidbit of information that may interest all of you. A random group of people were asked the following question. " Do you lose sleep over selecting a Valentine gift?"
48% of the men answered yes. Women who answered yes? 12%

Which raises a question that's been rolling around in the back of my mind -- around here it seems that Valentine's Day has become more and more of a one-way street. That is, wifey sits around looking cute, waiting to see what her big strong man has gotten her, yet besides her appreciation, I may or may not get so much as a card in return. Have I lost track? Is that the way it's supposed to work?

Just to be fair here, her "appreciation" is frequently worth more than anything I could give her. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

(Since there are teenagers on this board, I can't go into any more detail than that. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)
