Varmints!

If you see lots of feathers on the ground, you probably had a coyote or fox. If the feathers are spread around and/or in trees, then consider a raccoon or maybe even a bobcat took one of your birds. Of course, the raccoons and bobcats are not limited if the birds are roosting in trees. At night, you also have to consider owls. If there is no trace of feathers, then an owl taking your Guineas is a real possibilty. Whatever it is will surely come back for seconds.:licking:

Jinman - I had a circular pile in the trail (where a daughter left some corn) and 3 feet away another circular pile in some bushes.

I suspect coyote...

However, for years and to this day, wealthy NC fox hunters buy live coyotes for fox hound training within fenced pens. Several hurricanes ago, these coyotes escaped.
+1 I've heard that from several folks around here.

Priceless!

I think it is an Acme fused cannonball (cherry bomb?) that is Wile E.'s tool of choice!

Elmer Fudd has been doing commercials on TV so times may be getting hard for him. You may be able to hire him to help with those varmints

you may have coyotes or you may hav foxes but you won't have coyotes and foxes together. coyotes will kill foxes.

Tell that to mine! Coyotes will kill but not eat foxes and only if they're feeling pressure in their territory. Five coyotes and about that many foxes have lived here together (much to my chagrin and at a cost of many chickens) for years in peacefully annoying harmony.

Ok, seems a fox or a coyote (I know I have both on occasion) got one of my Guinea Fowl yesterday.

What do you use?

I have a couple shotguns (but I typically can't get to them fast enough) and I have a 9mm side arm and I open carry on the property (not all the time, but often).

Just curious...

You might have to consider putting your fowl in a pen, at least temporarily. Unless you can be there 24/7, a predator will keep coming back until they are all gone, or he's dead. (whichever comes first)

Around here we are seeing them in the middle of the day as well. They have become not scared of people. I have lost ducks, and cats to them. Popped one the other day. I was driving up a nearby road, It was siting on a stump, I stopped grabbed my 22 that was in the truck, and it never moved. Except the drop of the head after I hit it in the ear. 25 yards or less, the thing was not even paying attention to me.

Lots of twins this year for the deer, as well as last year, so lots of food for them. But they will take the easy way as some people I have known.
